Karnivool Album Details

2009-04-15 by Vooligan | 45 Comments
Australian alternative rock stalwarts Karnivool have announced further details of the bands highly anticipated second album. The follow up to the critically acclaimed Themata is to be entitled Sound Awake and is due to be released in late May this year. The album said to be "Epic in scope and broad in nature, ‘Sound Awake’ is a realisation of time and passion and once again demonstrates the band’s care and thought towards the recording process."

First single "Set Fire to the Hive" is set to be released to radio on the 28th of April, and is said to be a "sonic call to arms" reminding everyone that we live in a democracy and can therefore say what we feel.

Guitarist Drew Goddard said today:
Quote:
“Sound Awake was a true labour of love. From the outset, we decided we wanted to create something big in every sense of the word. We consciously set no limits and approached our creative process with little to no structure or preconception. When the music and inspiration came, we went with it. After around four years of stumbling through the dark, we've made it through with a second record that we are all proud of. We are extremely lucky and grateful that people everywhere have shown continued interest, patience and understanding. Sound Awake belongs not only to us but all those who stuck by for the ride.”....
Karnivool has also announced details of the "Sound Awake Tour" which will cover all the major cities in Australia.

They're prog rock. And believe me, if we can help it, everyone on sputnik will know about these guys once their album is out. It's pretty much guarenteed (sp?) that whatever it is, we won't be dissapointed and we'll be spruiking it everywhere.

Yeah, actually by the sounds of it, this record is going to be something that would fit right in here.
Just looking around the place, their american record label Bieler Bros has said its "Brilliant and a game changing record".
Sounds good to me

Damn, I was expecting it later this week or early next.

And yeah, it's probably a retarded statement, but I really think Australian bands are changing the face of prog rock atm. Or...proggish.

Yeah that was what the band was indicating before today.

No, i actually agree with you to an extent. Theres something really cool happening here with alt/prog rock at the moment. Like DLC, Sleep Parade, Cog, 'vool, Jericco, TBE, Rook, Mammal, etc. Theyre all pretty unique in their own way and essentiallly making that type of music much more accessible than it used to be while doing something a little different at the same time. Its easily Australia's strongest music scene at the moment.

Actually, the sad part is some of you are making fun of traditional aboriginal names that just sound funny to westerners.

But I admit, Tumbi Umbi is hilarious. Actually all of upagainstthewalls last list.

Also, you'll find most countries have weird town names. But yeah...

Well at least in the high plains they have changed "The Niggerheads" to its original Aboriginal names. I respect them dont worry

Cheers for the post with all them bands mammalian. Only knew vool and TBE, so going to check them all out this week. It's good to see Australia becoming a force to reckon with, next to the US and UK always dominating the rock scene.
