8-Bit Video Game Nerd Heaven

2009-03-07 by Meatplow | 18 Comments
Anamanaguchi have teamed up with visual all-star Voltage Controlled aka Paris Treantafeles & pixel artist extraordinaire Dave Mauro to put together a release that brings a live audio/visual experience onto the true home of the chiptune movement, the Internet. Dawnmetropolis.com is a synaesthetic arrangement of multi-media previously non-existing in the traditional form of an ‘album release.'

Anamanaguchi’s new album, Dawn Metropolis, contains seven new hyper-melodic songs, complete with colorful, seizure-inducing visuals to mirror their sound.

Album is pretty awesome, nothing amazing but really fun. Check out The Hunt For Yoshi, they have some originals and a crapload of cover EPs done in chiptune (Thursday, Saosin, The Fall Of Troy, blink-182, Michael Jackson just to name a few) if you like these guys.

Yes I have a digital copy, ordered the physical one and thought about getting the vinyl. It's just an odd type of music to review but I enjoy challenges.

That is some good stuff as well.

The Mega Man series has the best chiptune/8-bit music ever.

Can't beat the pioneers, guys like Koji Kondo pretty much had to code their music in binary and only had four channels of sound to work with, gotta admire how they came up with such timeless arrangements.
