Richey Edwards Presumed Dead 2008-11-24 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 7 Comments | 13 years after his mysterious disappearance, former Manic Street Preacher Richey James Edwards has been declared "presumed dead" by a Welsh court.
Edwards was 27 when his car was found abandoned by a notorious suicide spot on the Severn Bridge in Cardiff, leading many to believe the troubled rocker had killed himself. However, as no body was ever recovered, some still speculate that he faked his own death to escape the spotlight.
The Manic Street Preachers continued as a three-piece sans Edwards, producing their fourth album Everything Must Go in 1996 using fragments of his writings as lyrics. The band recently revealed that they would once again be using Edwards' lyrics on their new album, tentatively scheduled for a May 2009 release.

Unfortunately, I find it unlikely that he's still alive. Richey Edwards was one of the greatest lyricists ever, and everyone should thank him for his contributions, but it's time to let him go for those who haven't already. This Message Edited On 11.24.08
