Blur To Reunite?

Damon Albarn, the Grammy Award-winning London singer/musician behind outfits Gorillaz, The Good, The Bad and the Queen and Monkey: Journey To The West, has revealed that fans of ‘90s Brit-poppers Blur can get excited: a reunion is definitely on the cards.

“It’s very possible I’ll go back to Blur, it really is very possible,” Albarn revealed to the BBC yesterday. The “Beetlebum” singer said that he and former guitarist Graham Coxon had been “hanging out together”, the band having split in 2003 after Coxon left to pursue his solo career. “He’s great, it’s fantastic to get my old friend back,” said Albarn. “So it’s good – but I can’t really say any more than that.”

Coxon, meanwhile, is said to be working with Pete Doherty on the upcoming new album from the troubled Babyshambles’ singer. The outfit’s drummer, Adam Ficek, told London radio station XFM that Coxon had been in the studio with Doherty, recording tracks for a 2009 solo LP. “It’s not just musical with Graham,” Ficek said on air. “It’s this whole sonic environment he creates and that’s what has brought a really special edge to Peter’s solo album, it’s really interesting.”

Could Albarn go back to making Blur type music again though...??? It could bore him very very quickly.

I think Blur's sound shifted enough over the last few albums that Albarn could probably feel comfortable making pretty much anything under the "Blur" name. Remember, "Tender" and "Yuko & Hiro" are not exactly your typical Britpop.

awesome, hope this happens.

and daveyboy, i think it's pretty likely. he's shown that he's up for making different types of music and i'm sure he could stretch his interest for one more album, which would be all the material they'd need to end on, seeinas think tank isn't a fitting closer.

I'm sure one more album would be fine, but what they really shouldn't do is go back to britpop. They impressed me much more when they stopped being part of the scene, to be honest.

they were brilliant as a britpop band, but they wouldn't cut it considering how the genre has changed a little now. they'd be about as useful as oasis, which is not a good thing.
