At least I think it's a hiatus anyway, Kiedis' quote seems to point to that, but the article has called it a split...

No one cares.
*hides*

A minimum of one year, plus however long it takes John to get addicted to heroin and go through rehab again.
I'm such a dick.
|
| |
yes you are, and keidis is far worse anyway.
thing is, flea will do something, like when he joines Janes, and frusciante will do something, with the mars volta or more solo albums, chad doesnt need to because he's a drummer, and keidis is shit, and has been since californication.
im very glad, first 4 albums are my favourite, i love hillel, and mothers milk with john, however, by the way and stadium arcadium are two of the biggest letdowns.
|
| |
Stadium Arcadium had quite a few hidden gems, Slow Cheetah and Storm In A Teacup pooned.
Good I guess for them going on hiatus not that it'll matter since it'd be another 3-4 years before they release an album.
|
| |
Tbh, id rather they split up. They havent released anything interesting since One Hot Minute, and I say this as a chilis fanboy who spent £30 quid on a Vinyl Abbey Road Ep. The best stuff Flea and John have done since BSSM was with the Mars Volta.

Replace Jim with RHCP
|
| |
RHCP are the kind of band that go on hiatus between albums anyway. Their sound is pretty stale at this point...so maybe when/if they come back I'll actually be looking forward to hearing them again...or maybe they just need to listen to more tom petty in order to write new hits...
|
| |
Fuck em.
|
| |
i can only hope that this "hiatus" is the end of RHCP.
|
| |
I read about this yesterday, sucks. But good for them if its what they need.
|
| |
i want them to put out one more album. Being an Ex-fanboy, I believe they are the only 'truly' mainstream band anyone should give a damn about.
|
| |
So does all of our news come straight off the Ultimate-Guitar frontpage now?
|
| |
Is it me or does John Frusciante look like Will Farell?
|
| |
Yay! They should have thrown in the towel long ago. They've had some good tunes mixed in their last few albums, but it's mostly been calculated pop-rock crap.
Is it me or does John Frusciante look like Will Farell?
Haha, I've always thought the same thing.

Chad Smith looks more like Will Farrell. Frusciante always had more of a Jesus resemblence IMO.
|
| |
I think I'm in the small minority who has actually not gotten bored with their stuff since Californication. I do think they should take a break, so this is good.
|
| |
Steerpike, you are a legend. I have a feeling that you and I would get along very well in the real world.
Meh, 1 year, so what. The Chilis take like 4 years to release a new album anyway, so what's the diff?
|
| |
well probably that this time they'll take five years, i guess.
i like them, though i'm not too bothered since i don't really know much about them. This Message Edited On 05.22.08

I was literally two sentences from finishing and posting this, then somehow I ended up getting really drunk and passing out. Lol, I woke up and was pretty sure someone posted this already, lol.
I don't like this news. RHCP is one of the few "Old" bands that can still kick ass. I remember SOAD went on a "Hiatus", only to pretty much break up, hopefully they're telling the truth when they say they'll do another album. The only good thing to come of this is the fact that hopefully Frusciante will have time to grow his hair back. He looks like such a nerd with short hair. Besides that, it's potentially really sad news.
......Plus this only adds to my theory that double CDs ruin artists/bands. There's usually a lot of filler, and you're so exhausted as a band, tensions mount and the band usually either breaks up, or loses it's edge. This Message Edited On 05.22.08

has anyone besides me ever noticed there drummer looks alot like will farrel, but with talent
|
| |
I doubt anyone really expected them to do anything anyways. I just assumed they were taking a long break after their tour
|
| |
I'm kinda glad actually. Hopefully after taking some time off and living a little they can do something more creative than stadium.
|
| |
I basically love the singles they've put out, but their albums are meh

Chad needs more cowbell.
I've moved on to better things in the past ten years - as should the band.
