White Stripes Trial Update

2006-06-15 by Stormy Smiley Face | 5 Comments
Here is an article I posted a couple days ago and then an update:

Co-Producer of White Stripes debut and sound mixer of "De Stijl", James Diamond, is now suing The White Stripes saying he is owed money for helping shape the bands career.

According to court papers Diamond co-produced for the bands debut by providing "additional artistic suggestions, supervision, and contributions".

The court battle began June 12th and the band is 'vigorously' fighting the law suit saying that, "he was paid the fair rate of $35 an hour for his work in the Detroit Studio".

The whole trial itself is expected to be resolved in about a week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things have gotten a little testy in the trial now. Von Bondies singer Jason Stollsteimer under oath has accused Jack White of leaving him an obscenity filled note with a knife attached to it on his door. In 2004 Jack White admitted to assaultin Stollsteimer in a night club the year before, but denies this claim. The note was a interview story in which White apparently believed that Stollsteimer slighted him by minimizing his role in producing a Von Bondies album.

White had worked on the band's 2001 debut 'Lack Of Communication', and later when the White Stripes went on their first major UK tour The Von Bondies supported.

The article, Stollsteimer said, had written across it: "That's the last ... time I help you out."

White earlier said it was "a laughable lie" that he stuck a knife in Stollsteimer's door (notice he didn't deny the actual note).

White Stripes drummer Meg White testified that although the group's first album listed Diamond as co-producer, the credit for producing that album belonged solely to Jack White.

Wow, that comment was useless. I thought they were annoying last year at this time, but lateley I've been getting into all their music.
Things are getting serious, I had no idea that Jack White did that with the knife to the note deal.
