Zack Turns Down Bad Brains?

2006-01-18 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 11 Comments
The New York Post is reporting that former Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack De La Rocha turned down an offer to front rastafarian hardcore legends Bad Brains. The band is now fronted by ex-Cro Mags frontman John "Bloodclot" Joseph.

Since splitting with Rage Against The Machine in late 2000, citing 'creative differences,' De La Rocha has remained largely out of the public eye. His only notable musical work was a guest spot on Saul Williams' 2004 self-titled album and the song 'We Want It All' for the 'Songs and Artists That Inspired Farenheit 9/11' soundtrack. He's also done notable work with trip-hop producer DJ Shadow and hip hop group Blackalicious but, as of yet, no plans for a solo album have been released.

Thank the good lord for that. I can't see De La Rocha's solo career ever really taking off, based on his current performance.

i dont think Sir zack can possibly do anything, wether its a solo career or join another band because his life and soul BELONGS to RATM. If anyone thinks he can be more successful than wha he is now................ shouldnt be a Rage fan. Bad Brains + Zack de la Roche = TERRIBLE

Truly, Zacks lyrics of another world. But without the rest of the guys I would have not listened to him in the first place.

Thank You Tom Morello.

christ, i mean zack has the talent and fanbase for a solo carreer but id say he'd sound out of place with-out a good instrumental backing and unless he fronts a "supergroup" or there is a RATM reform (which should obviously happen) he probably wont release any new material.

He definitely can't do anything as good as RATM solo... The "March of Death" was okay, but not great. And he hasn't been popping up anywhere recently, so maybe he's just collecting material and checking out guitarists and drummers. He fronted one of the coolest bands of all time - and you gotta admit, Audioslave kinda gets to you after you think what RATM was capable of. I'm looking forward to whatever he plans on doing, and I still pray everyday for an RATM reunion.

I think Zack should deffinetly at least try a solo carrer because not only can he write some amazingly smart, politicly aware lyrics but he has a lot of fans and besides he might as well try one.

I mean it would'nt hurt anything.
