I'm predicting they will to a greater extent actually due to the advent of Blaqk Audio. DU was a real grower for me though I love it now. Hopefully the nostalgia he mentions will bring about some really awesome songs.

AFI has grown on me over the past year. I much prefer their old stuff to DU and Sing The Sorrow.
I hope this doesn't sound like Blaqk Audio.

I hope this is better than DU. I liked it..it just wasnt great. I want some hardcore punk...nahh..i dont really care what they do..as long as it sounds better than DU. Some punk would be nice though.

ya heres how i see it. Old stuff before Black Sails was bland. Black Sails in the Sunset, Art of Drowning and Sing the Sorrow were all amazing. Decemberunderground isn't as bad as people are saying, but is the worst, just because the others are so great. It still had good songs on it though. Hopefully with this one they can incorporate their rougher goth stuff off Black Sails and use some of the new Sing the Sorrow and DU to make the best of both worlds.

I like everything AFI do unconditionally, kind of like the way most people here uncritically adore Thrice.
Yeah... me too. lol. The only album I'm looking forward to this year more than this one is the new Opeth.

I like thhe newer AFI material as well as the old, but I'd prefer them to head more back towards the older style or at least a healthy balance between both.
We shall see.

DU was better than their first 3 albums by far and is also better than STS. So what? They can't top themselves on every single release. No band can really do that after being around for over 15 years. I'd much rather them keep going out and doing something different every time, then return to a style they've already done years ago.
No real point in saying that much though seeing as how I know they're going to do just that.

the ONLY reason I want them to go backwards..is because of the lyrical and poetic content. DU was very very too simple.
