Extol to Release First Album in Over a Decade

2026-08-21 by Futures STAFF | 16 Comments
Norwegian progressive death metal band Extol have announced their long-awaited 6th album. On November 6th, the band will release Aura of Decay via Solid State Records, their first release since 2013's self-titled album. The album features their classic lineup with the return of guitarist Christer Espevoll who did not feature on The Blueprint Dives or 2013's Extol.

The band has also released their first single of Aura of Decay entitled "The One And The Many" now streaming worldwide. You can watch and listen to the visualizer below.

Espevoll had the following to say regarding the songs meaning. "We are living in an era where truth feels relative, yet tribal dogmas seem to be strengthening. We wanted the song to mirror that confusion. It is an invitation to look beneath the surface noise of the internet and reflect on how sanctimonious religious and political practices are fed and kept alive by ideology."

Aura Of Decay track listing:
01. The One And The Many
02. Disintegrate
03. Sanctum
04. Merciless Hunger
05. Vile Path
06. Phantom Dismay
07. Shield And Alibi
08. Wrecked Within Walls
09. Dimness Of Lingering Gloom
10. Beneath The Dirt
11. End Of Times

the song rips btw. picked up right where they left off. that opening riff that comes back for the clean sections is so gorgeous. some of the best at weaving in clean sections with the heavy. great solo too.
