Fortress the Hero Tracklist

2007-11-01 by Tyler EMERITUS | 21 Comments
The track lististing for the upcoming Protest the Hero album "Fortress" has been released. The album is, as previously reported, a 10-track release, but it's being split up into sections, though not to the same effect as Kezia.
Quote:
On Conquest and Capture
1. Bloodmeat
2. The Dissentience
3. Bone Marrow

4. Sequoia Throne
5. Palms Read
6. Limb From Limb
7. Spoils

Isosceles
8. Wretch
9. Goddess Bound
10. Goddess Gagged
As you can see, Fortress will start off with one of two three-song movements, followed by 4 additional tracks leading into a second three-song movement. Or was it three-movement song...Anywho, the track listing confirms the band's statements on the album's concept(s) not being a singular idea. Several of the tracks also confirm reports that the lyrics are heavily influenced by the poetry of Robert Graves.

The album is still on-schedule for a January 29th, 2008 release.

Also, you'll notice there is no "Vaginal Secretions" so everyone can stfu about that

Isosceles has me the most excited. Robert Graves had some insane ideas in his Goddess poems and writings. Should be fucked up and awesome. This Message Edited On 11.01.07

Goddess Bound and Goddess Gagged are both references to Robert Graves' the White Goddess. The titles are more than likely references to Graves' theory that "herstory" (ie: women's history) is consistently held down by patriarchy.
But yes, the titles are luls.

I didn't like Kezia, but I might check this out to see how/if they've improved.

Well, I'll tell you flat out:
More aggressive, heavier, growls aplenty, far more technical but still with lots of hooks.

Rody does them. Arif and co will probably have their parts too.

I read on wikipedia that Arif Does them live. Is this true.

Arif used to do a lot of growls live, but now Rody does them as well. He's been working on a low growl that I'm told makes it's presence known on the album.
