My first contact with Klaus Doldinger was with the film "Das Boot" by Wolfgang Petersen. I loved the film and the soundtrack. When it was possible, I decided to buy the CD with the original film music.
Doldinger was probably one of the most influential and productive German musicians, and has a well deserved place in the heart of many prog fans. One of the true progenitors of Jazz-Rock Fusion as a high-quality commercially-viable entity.
So, this is very sad news. Thanks for your contribution to the great music. RIP.
