Hum return in 2026

2025-09-29 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 27 Comments
Cult alt-rock/shoegaze quartet Hum have announced their first activity since their 2020 comeback album Inlet and death of drummer Bryan St Pere in 2021.

Though the band have stated they have no current plans beyond this run of dates at Slide Away Festival, which also boasts the return of Chapterhouse among its lineup, they have also announced that Jason Gerken, who was briefly a member at the beginning of their reunion in 2015, has returned to the fold behind the kit.

Inlet was pretty awesome. Hope that they can return with something in the same level as that.

@Senetrix666, yeah, hahah I totally misread the news.
Hopefully playing together get them in the mood for new music though.

Gerkin is a hell of a drummer. Listen to the drums on Project 86's Rival Factions. He crushes it. A perfect fit.

I loved Inlet and was really bummed when they ended the band following his death. But it made complete sense. I can't expect new material, but they have a bonafide fan should they ever want to make something new.

Great news! Hopefully the reaction from the fans will spark them with the desire to record new music.

Didn't they explicitly state that they're not gonna be there with new stuff, just enjoying playing with their buddies again?

They said they have no current plans beyond these dates, as mentioned in OP. But you never know how things might work out once they've been on stage.

Why are people talking about hoping the next music sounds like Inlet. I don’t see any mention of new music in the post. Am I missing something?

I doubt they make a new album. Touring yes but it is kinda a shock that they are touring after the original drummer died. I guess money talks

It has been a few years to be fair. Money could talk but grief processes different for everyone.
