Idk i don’t really know much about the band but from the outside looking in, it seems sincere to me. Same with Bob Vylan, I don’t think either are “political grifters”. As far as “left” political grifting in music, Muse comes to mind. The few songs I’ve heard from their last few albums are just the most boilerplate unspecific talks of “revolution” or some shit. It sounded clear as day to me that they didn’t mean a word of any of it… but like I said it has maybe been five songs tops but it was enough to put me off even listening to their older, more acclaimed records.

There is a 2024 documentary about these guys, selected for screening at the Sundance film festival, and streaming at a local outlet of the sort, whereby the synopsis reports their political activity which includes reinstating the Irish language in Ireland (it's not English).

Regarding the other conflicts etc, I think since EU and US are not as involved there, there is less media attention. The IDF says they give warning prior to operations for civilians to clear out and that Hamas welcomes civilian casualties (human shield argument) and even actively prevent/discourage civilians from displacing. So what do we make of all this? Did people expect there would be no civilian deaths? Does the higher than "expected" rate of civilian deaths mean Hamas is absolved? I wish the IDF had been more tactful in their operations, but I'm also cognizant of the amount of misinformation being spread on social and mainstream media, which further complicates the whole thing.

I am all for holding wrongdoing, inclusive of war crimes, to account. I think the genocide label is one to take very seriously and so, where lines were crossed, people should be held accountable. This was/is such a unique war where you have an enemy hidden under/behind its people. I listen to knowledgeable/respectable people on both sides debating this and look forward to hearing more WRT this genocide label. I think Amnesty has their own definition for genocide quite frankly and they aren't the final authority. Genocide from my understanding is the physical destruction of an entire group, targeted on the basis of its identity. That's not my understanding of the mission. Hamas is openly genocidal. So this all comes back to whether or not doing enough to limit civilian casualties amounts to genocide. It does not.
