Rob Dukes returns to Exodus

2025-01-15 by ThatDude | 12 Comments
As confirmed via their Instagram page, Steve ''Retro'' Souza has once again parted ways with Bay Area thrash titans Exodus.

Rob Dukes, who replaced Souza from 2005 to 2014 following his previous departure, was announced to be the new vocalist. Work on a new record with Dukes is set for the near future.

See statement below:

"Announcement! Exodus have parted ways with Steve 'Zetro' Souza. We thank Steve for his years fronting the band and all the killer music we made during that time. We wish him only the best in the future and much success with anything he does.

And please help us welcome Rob Dukes back to Exodus! We are beyond stoked to have Rob back ripping up the stage with us and he's looking forward to crushing everything like only he can.

Next chapter begins, new record rolls along as planned and the beatings will continue."

i like zetro and dukes, i just think dukes' voice is kinda generic for the genre

Dukes is the most generic thrash vocalist of all-time, and his albums with Exodus fucking suck.

nah i think dukes is a million times better than zetro. his style isn't unique but he is quite good and the dukes era doesn't just sound like an attempt to recapture their 80s sound, not always successful with the changes but at least trying something which is better than most of these hack bands

"Persona Non Grata" page here is filled with diatribes on how bad Zetro sounds. Now Dukes is back and you're still unhappy. Personally, I think Exodus' last two albums were cool, especially Blood In, Blood Out, but their latest has some of their best bangers too, and Souza's singing actually suited the band's style.

as long as Gary brings the killer riffs the vocalist doesn't bother me too much

all dukes albums suck but that's hardly dukes' fault

somehow zetro's albums have always had better riffs

Dukes’ vocals are super generic but then again that’s because he’s kind of a thrash OG

I can handle generic vocals if the music is good, but those 3 Exodus albums he was on are stock as hell.
