Track 4 might explain Sputnik's opinion

The album art with the demon holding an iPhone, plus this generic, agonizingly bad song compelled me to write up this article.
I’m not even a Mushroomhead fan, but I’m in disbelief at how bad this all seems
|
| |
Would be better if the thumbnail image of the lady vox here was the cover.
|
| |
Also, didn't even realize Jman left again.
|
| |
gotta break out my monster snapback for this one
|
| |
Don't waste your time. Song is mid.
|
| |
Not the worst song I've heard but certainly nothing special either. Safe to say these guys peaked in the early 00's
|
| |
Eh, could be worse.
|
| |
Met them a couple years back, they're really chill guys
That being said, I only like two albums by them
|
| |
I never took Mushroomhead for a generic band, even wearing their Mike Patton influences on their sleeves, they had a unique vibe, so I always respected them. This shit is soooooo by the numbers. The instrumentals especially sound like royalty free metal background music. The female vocals don’t help either, shit sounds really really generic.
|
| |
Losing Jeffrey hurt this band in ways I don't they will ever realize. Yes, his vocals are weird and amplify the cartoony aspects of their music, but that is why they are important to the overall sound. Jeffrey makes the hooks pop and stick in your mind because of how bizarre his intonations are. In trying to be more commercial friendly, this band has only scrubbed away every element that made them stand out. Now, they are just another pop rock/metal band.
|
| |
AI generated diet-slipknot
|
| |
You can't lose both lead vocalists who harmonized perfectly with one another, replace them with two who can't harmonize at all, then lose your keyboardist who halfway MADE your sound in the same breath, and call it the same band.
Not my Mushroomhead
>Jman left again.
Lmfao. Not anybody's Mushroomhead. Beat everyone involved in this.
|
| |
XX-XIII-Savior Sorrow is their holy trilogy. Diet-slipknot after that.
|
| |
WHAT KINDA EVIDENCE
|
| |
True about XX-XIII-Saviour sorrow
But I remember The Righteous and the Butterfly being ok but they are pure Dumpster after that and seem to know no boundaries with how bad they can get.
|
| |
It's listenable.
|
| |
was this band ever actually good
|
| |
yes
every single one of their albums is good except the last one
which factually isn't mushroomhead
|
| |
There are many bands/artists who would probably be better off never making music again. Mushroomhead is one of them.
|
| |
also have to mention that XX just has worse versions of already existing songs
go listen to s/t superbuick and M3 instead please
|
| |
Can't cosign that, Firebug. The Solitaire XX version is distinctly better.
|
| |
there's apparently two different versions of XX so maybe it depends on which one you listen to
|
| |
So what’s the best album to start with?
|
| |
lol
|
| |
Superbuick and XIII are the standouts for being great through and through IMO. Depends if you want a stripped down FNM-esque synth/keyboard-laden sound (former) or a nu metal sound (latter). Start with those.
But I think the band's best work is scattered throughout their albums featuring Waylon Reavis since his voice meshes really well with Jeffrey's voice, though those albums are more hit-and-miss.
|
| |
Yeah, I wish Savior Sorrow was good throughout. It def falls off after a certain point.
|
| |
Mushroomhead were never good really. Solitaire unraveling was cool though and waylon was the best singer this band ever had
|
| |
Not bad.
|
| |
Eclipse Version of XX is my preferred, the mixing alone induces nostalgia, hard.Plus it has Epiphany. I wish they were able to come together for one more banger of an album after SS but it's been a slow motion trainwreck ever since
Nothing beats the JMann/Nothing duo, sorry Waylon fans.
|
| |
Worst band name ever?
|
| |
Yawn, sorry, not even close. There's worse in your 4.5's/5's, try again
|
| |
song is basement-tier but not crawlspace-tier
JMann's personal tastes evolved from Patton worship to Townsend worship to whatever came next - have no fuckin idea but as much as some get irritated by Mike n Devin's following (I respect anyone's tastes or opinions - but within the cumulative breadth of their respective works I believe the dreaded 'G' word is justified/apt/obvious - n they're hardly influences to ever be ashamed of) - I'm not sure as to reasons of his most recent departure but he may have artistically outgrown the remedial confines of this outfit's established n expected scope/framework of its inherent estimated style or 'scene' - for the most part can't hit a high note to save his life but I don't think he tries to n instead goes with deep croons, low to mid pitch screams, n rapid-fire delivery - but the Alter Boys collab with Todd of Dog Fashion Disco/Polkadot Cadaver/El-Creepo/Knives Out/Beyond Paranoid from 2005 hints at the possibility he could 'broaden his horizons' post-Black Light Forecast (which I find OK but a touch or so straightfwd/bland)
Jeffrey Nothing never really pulled me into his decidedly idiosyncratic style - but I do respect his unusual delivery that eschews the typical vocal cadence n progression's played-out auto-sensibilities in favor of a more abstract/pseudo-cerebral approach
Waylon I'm not sure I've heard or at least identified yet in my incomplete dalliances with Mushroomhead's discog. which ones are he on n which one would any of yuz say is the album or songs where he shines most or that best showcase his skill-set with them?
|
| |
XIII kicks ass. So many bangers in the first few tracks.
|
| |
@Assemblage, I appreciate the effort that you took to look at my profile.
There are some pretty good contestants in your 5's and 4.5's as well.
|
| |
quick someone post his 5's so we can have a laugh
|
| |
never liked this band, but new clean vocalist is sexy and has a sexy voice. Unfortunately, outside the chorus the song pretty much stinks. the song The Heresy's chorus is ridiculous as well.
|
| |
Old MRH wasn't for everyone and that is why it worked. Now they are trying to make it for everyone by sanding off the edges. Hence why the hooks are just kinda lame.
|
| |
@Jurtz, right that's why I didn't make the memeclaim myself... Not a hard thing to figure out????
@BookoftheFallen post them yourself, I'm fine with my subjective 5's. Maybe you'll laugh at the overlapping musical taste.... whatever.
|
| |
Are you on your period or something? Go back to bed and get out with your other foot.
|
| |
"Doom Goose"
Pfft hahahahahahahaha
|
| |
This new mrh is atrocious…
|
| |
is anyone from the band still in the band tho?
|
| |
Only skinny and gravy
|
| |
Well their songwriting skills have fallen off for the last 15 years so I guess it doesn't really make up for losing the vocalists which honestly gave the band almost the entirety of their charm. I used to really dig this band back in the day, always thought in the stupid "masks bands" conversation they were a tier above the others. Not a huge accomplishment by any means, and probably not true for a while now either
|
| |
Flushroomhead
|
| |
dunno who's doing the generic raspy harsh vocals but that is easily my least favorite vocal style...
|
| |
