R.I.P. Vitalij Kuprij 2024-02-21 by Voivod STAFF | 2 Comments | Ukrainian keyboard virtuoso Vitalij Kuprij, solo artist and founding member of progressive metal long runners Artension, has passed away.
He was 49 years old.
Lars Eric Mattsson, head of Lion Music, wrote the following about Kuprij's untimely passing:
This morning I woke up to really sad news: my dear friend and keyboard master Vitalij Kuprij died last night. A virtuoso of Ukrainian origin, he lived in Philadelphia and had recently had another highly successful tour with the TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA. I have known and worked with Vitalij for over 20 years and he always said to meet us here in Finland to go fishing, which was his second passion after music. We have recorded together several times, the first time was for BOOK OF REFLECTIONS' debut album twenty years ago and then later for my solo concept album 'War'. My record label Lion Music Record Label has released a lot of his music, including three solo albums, ARTENSION works and more.
We will miss you so much my friend!
