New Aura of Birth EP

Reclusive progressive metal band Aura Of Birth have released their debut EP 'Immersive’ featuring ex-The Contortionist vocalist Jonathon Carpenter (Exoplanet/Intrinsic era). It is unknown if Carpenter has joined the band full time or just a one off release. Their single ‘Terminal Ascent’ can be found below:

Sounds like a band trying to make old school Contortionist songs. It's missing the edge though.

Carpenter sounds great though, if a little bit sterile (I'm guessing intentionally for that Intrinsic era sound)

it is indeed surprisingly Substructure-y but with Carpenter doing his Intrinsic vocals on it (although his harsh vox have definitely not held up since Exoplanet)

i like it, this stuff is basically comfort food to me at this point

Check out Foreign Waves, Jon's solo project. Definitely scratches the Intrinsic/Exoplanet vibes, considering it's supposedly a spiritual sequel to those albums. Not polished like TC but I really dig it.
