Renacer was the last time they made a decent album...
...this is quite promising tho.
| |
Yeah, this is a step to the sound I liked before they dropped it on light.
| |
Light was really good ngl, way better than Pull the Thorns.
| |
Buddy told me Spencer is on 60% of the song so i guess he is playing guitar too
| |
Song is not good. Have really not enjoyed SF’s attempt to go back to the old sound without writing good guitar parts. Miss you Garrett!
| |
yeah that main butt rock riff is really off-putting
| |
It's just not interesting. So sounds like a The Fire b side
| |
Is that not the riff from downfall by trustcompany
| |
"butt rock riff", lol
| |
this is going to be a hard 1 isn't it
| |
is this one about rush limbaugh?
| |
Oh wow, it really does have a Downfall vibe to that riff, doesn't it?
What a weird song. I dunno, just not really liking it too much, I guess. Bummer, used to love these guys
| |
Agree with what's been said about the intro riff, it's boring a f. Enjoying the chorus tho. Wish they'd go back to the Renacer sound.
| |
No thanks.
| |
Pretty good song other than the questionable opening riff. Buddy sounds great.
| |
i dig it. these guys seem to switch up their approach every time out despite not leaving the pop punk/post-hardcore realm
| |
Holy shit this is dire
Stunned how bad this is lol
| |
Yeah this is really uninspired
| |
They experimented for a good few years, this right here is some "my car bill is due" money
| |
Dude this is straight up ass what the fuck happened??
| |
kinda surprised at the adverse reactions to this, maybe it's just my senses fail fanboyism acting up, but this at the very least is just average, nothing offensive enough to really make a fuss over
| |
At best it is average agreed. It’s very much obviously neutered for me.
| |
fuck yes, hard rock tinged ezcore from senses fail is what the world needed
| |
even storm calls it neutered
and he usually likes everything
| |
The Joshua Tree albums were also a big sign that Buddy has completely lost his vocals.
| |
honestly, I always found his vox to be the weakest link in their sound
| |
They always were yeah but they were also endearing. Now it’s just clinging to a morphine drip.
| |
i think from a technique standpoint he's gotten stronger, but that's robbed him of some of the sincerity of their earlier output
| |
I think Still Searching is one of the best punk vocal performances of all-time. After that he’s ranged from bad to decent. I think he stopped writing really good melodies after The Fire.
| |
can't abide by that, buddy was FIRE on renacer
| |
disagree
his vocals and lyricism held that album back
| |
wwhhhhaaaaat that has some of his best work lyrically & vocally imo
| |
Renacer is a hundred times over the best vocal performance Buddy has had in his career and it's not even close to being close
| |
^^ couldn't agree more. the only other SF material that rivals renacer vocally, are the bonus tracks from the best of
| |
id include the fire w that stretch but hes def dropped off since then
| |
that's fair he sounded fire on the fire
| |
Buddy's most cringeworthy vocal and lyrical performance is on pull the thorns, hands down
| |
And yes, the fire is fire
| |
"The Joshua Tree albums were also a big sign that Buddy has completely lost his vocals."
Yes, sadly
| |
Buddy’s clean vocals were never as good after SS. No way anything after can be his best performance for that reason.
| |
SS is his worst clean vocal performance imo (unpopular opinion)
| |
That makes absolutely no sense to me lol
He hits very high notes while sounding crisp and clear with a flawless straight tone, and has many unique quirks that make it a 5/5 performance to me like the slight pitch changes at the end of notes. To me it sounds like since after SS Buddy only ever sings with his chest voice because he feels that belting out highs like on SS/LIEY will damage his voice. Or it could be that the alcoholism around that time caused some permanent damage, unfortunately. I’ve still enjoyed a lot his performances after SS but to me that one just really reaches high heights.
| |
Great song. Looking forward to the album.
| |
This song is an AFI c-side with some harsh vocals thrown in the mix and even lamer lyrics. A strange mish mash of what they think fans want, lacking cohesion
| |
good culmination of all their sounds since renacer, bridge is a little weak.
| |
tho buddy sounds a little better vocally
| |
Why can't they just bump up the bpm by like 30, this is way too forgettable midtempo
| |
@Decisions to be fair, Renacer is his best performance because of the harsh vox
| |
