New Cradle of Filth Song

2021-07-30 by Fernando Alves | 24 Comments
British black metallers Cradle of Filth shared the first single, 'Crawling King Chaos', off their upcoming new album Existence Is Futile, out October 22nd via Nuclear Blast. The official music video can be seen below.

Directed by Vicente Cordero

Dani Filth comments: "The album is about existentialism, existential dread and fear of the unknown. The concept wasn’t created by the pandemic. We’d written it all before that began, but the pandemic is the tip of the cotton-bud as far as the way the world’s going, you know? I guess the title, 'Existence Is Futile', does sound a little morbid. But again, it’s more about recognising that and saying that everything is permitted because nothing really matters, which mimics Aleister Crowley’s maxim. We all know we’re going to die, so we might as well indulge life while we have it. The final track on the album – 'Us, Dark, Invincible' – really emphasises that. Also, the artwork for this record was created by the Latvian visionary Arthur Berzinsh, who also dressed the last two albums, and that is exceedingly beautiful yet apocalyptic too."

Tracklist:

1. The Fate Of The World On Our Shoulders
2. Existential Terror
3. Necromantic Fantasies
4. Crawling King Chaos
5. Here Comes A Candle… (Infernal Lullaby)
6. Black Smoke Curling From The Lips Of War
7. Discourse Between A Man And His Soul
8. The Dying Of The Embers
9. Ashen Mortality
10. How Many Tears To Nurture A Rose?
11. Suffer Our Dominion
12. Us, Dark, Invincible

Sisters Of The Mist (Bonus track)
Unleash The Hellion (Bonus track)

I agree. They are standing strong. Incredible. If the rest is more or less on this level, I won´t complain. Dani is almost 50, but sounds fantastic.
I just wished their videos would become edgier again like From the cradle to enslave.

Cradle of Filth's redemption arc has been impressive. More or less the same lineup through the three albums (save for Lindsey Schoolcraft leaving) which is no mean feat for them.

exciting song i really like the drama of the synths etc, it would actually be hilarious if this ended up being a bad or average album, but it's probably gonna be m/

Killer riffing on here. I can live without the keys, but it wouldn't be Cradle with out them... The album artwork for this one is SICK, btw

Every time a lead single by Cradle comes out he plays it 24 hours on repeat in his basement with his wife tied up and whippin it.

Between this single promising a (hopefully) incredible trilogy of comeback albums and the two re-issues, its crazy how good this band has been.

After 30+ years, to sound this fresh and inspired is no small feat.

The drum sound is a little bit too close to being uncomfortably clicky, but hey, that's what Nuclear Blast does unfortunately. Track was good, needs some more spins before I can make out what's going on in all that chaos.

"Everything is permitted because nothing really matters" Now that's a satanist claim.

Spotify version is so much better, YouTube compressing the crap out of things as usual.

Song kicks so much ass, album is gonna complete the comeback trilogy m/

spotify version does sound better I think yeah. Or at least without the music video I'm just focusing on the music more, either/or.

Just realised we’re still almost three months away from the new album - that sucks!
