Seiko Oomori covers Seiko Oomori but not 2021-05-30 by fluid in its most purist form. always drenched in an undeniable regal divinity. | 18 Comments | Ceiling-shattering queen of pop glory Seiko Oomori has announced an album of self-covers, entitled Persona #1, to be released July 7th.
The album will be composed primarily of tracks she has written for other artists, including You'll Melt More! and ex-Morning Musume idol Sayumi Michishige.
It is common for J-pop's best songwriters to write for other artists outside of their solo careers, and there are precedents for self-cover albums, where the writers take their material back into their own hands for a fresh spin and some extra mileage (see Shiina Ringo). The roster of groups covered here are largely affiliated with the Hello! Project and/or the Miss iD talent show, both prominent idol institutions, the latter of which Seiko has been involved with extensively for several years.
