Satyricon & Munch

2021-05-27 by Fernando Alves | 8 Comments
Norwegian black metallers Satyricon and Munch Museum have teamed up for the "Satyricon & Munch" upcoming exhibit, which will take place in Oslo, Norway, in early 2022. The exhibition explores the interplay of black metal and visual art, where a specially composed musical work is linked to a selection of Edvard Munch visuals.

Band comments:
"We consider this massive challenge the greatest honor of our career. Edvard Munch created some of the most iconic images in the world of art and through his career demonstrated the kind of courage and freedom we have always embraced and aspired to us as artists ourselves. To write music whose ambition is to take the art of Munch into uncharted territory, is quite a journey to be on. We look forward to sharing more details with you in the coming months."

I wish this had taken place during the Rebel Extravaganza and Volcano era, when Satyrcion were able to create truely unique and visionary music. After they played Standard black metal but before they became bland and stale...

YES! Finally more Satyricon!
Btw, they've already used one of Munch's works as the cover art of Deep Calleth Upon Deep. But since Sigurd have been playing a LOT with synths, so I'm hyped AF.

Everybody knows Satyr is very serious and pretentious but so what. I mean I think it's kind of funny actually. I watched a recent interview (from 2021) with him and this Finnish guy and he does come across super serious in it. The guy was like a bit jokey and he just didn't respond really to the humor or smile at all lmao.

I’m a massive Satyricon fan myself despite some duds in their career, but just can’t help making fun of them.
