Underoath new album is progree

2006-05-06 by f_u_c_t | 25 Comments
Ok, just to set the record straight, this news article is not coming from my own words. And I am giving credit to the May 2006 issue of Revolver. I am not trying to plagiarize. So here we go.
The guitar tones on Underoath's upcoming album, Define The Great Line, as so heavy that listeners just might shit themselves. Killswitch Engage axman and coproducer Adam Dutkiewics did-twice. "I think the breakdowns just got to his bowels and scared the crap out of him," laughs guitarist and songwriter Tim McTague.
Underoath chose Dutkiewics to produce the guitars and vocals because they loved the fist-in-face sound of his records, and there's no lack of impact in Define. But the guitarist also nurtured the band's more experimental side. "The music pulls you in a lot of directions," McTague says. "There's heavy stuff that punches you right in the balls, but there are also two seven-minute-long instrumentals that have super-slow builds and one electronic song that a dude reads Psalm 50 from the Bible in Russian over."
I have no set date for this release, so thats all I know.
Once again this article came straight out of the May 2006 issue of Revolver.

exciting, heavy guitar parts are great, and the fact that underoath is a christian band helps, im really excited to get my hands on this.

Yeah but isn't there no keyboard? I heard the first 3 demos and the intro on their purevolume, it was pretty funny to see comments about how people thought that every song was going to be like that. Though I'm not looking forward to 7 minute instrumentals, can you say fillers?

I hope this is like Chasing Safety, with more technicality, and just more thought put into the songwriting. Their last album was great in my opinion, and if they can build off that, I think it'll be awesome.

I wouldn't say it's awesome. It's a lot better than "They're Only Chasing Safety" that's for sure. But like I said there's no great line being defined with "Define The Great Line".
"When you hear our next record you'll understand why the album we have now is just okay". At least they're admitting that TOCS is just okay. I think they'll lose fans with this one with a lot less singing and those 7 minute instrumentals.

Yeah why 2 instumentals, and why 7 minutes.

This album comes out on June 20th. The breakdowns are definetly not going to make you **** yourself. The song where the guy reads that Psalm in Russian is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, and the two seven minute intrumentals are boring and drawn out. The album is not really like TOCS but its not much like old UnderOath either. UnderOath said that TOCS was a studio album and that they are a live band. Despite some down sides I like this album, but I read that the version that leaked isn't really finished anyways, so there might be some changes. This Message Edited On 05.09.06

This new album is at least better than the Angels and Airwaves album.

I personally can't wait for AVA's "We Don't Need To Whisper".

actually, the 7 min songs arent completely instrumental, though they do have large parts that are. and the breakdowns really arent all that heavy, except for a couple of them.

still, its an amazing album, i really like it. and yeah, the leaked version is unmixed and missing some keyboards and guitar parts. amazingly, there's very few parts that even sound in need of new parts. its really good.

and im definetly buying it

im not too much of a hardcore fan, so this might be bad. ive never heard old underoath, so dont call me a poser. i have theyre only chasing safety, and i love it. i just hope they dont turn into some heavy metal band.

This a lot heavier than TOCS, but nowhere near as heavy as OLD underOATH. This album will definitely get rid of their fans who don't like heavy music. It sucks though because every scene kid's going to be thinking they're listening to real hardcore.
