Satellite Party And 50 Cent Duet

2007-08-19 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 5 Comments
Perry Farrell, 50 Cent and Kelly Rowland- history's ugliest menage-a-trois?

Emotional scarring aside, the trio of unlikely collaborators teamed up last week to shoot the video for the remix of 'Only Love, Let's Celebrate,' the second single from Ultra Payloaded, the debut album by Farrell's newest musical project, Satellite Party.

"It's going to be for college game night -- Saturday night college football," he told Billboard.com. "We wrote [the remix] together for the NCAA, so it's really cool. I do a verse, Kelly does a verse, 50 does that [sic] a verse."

The Billboard article also reveals that Farrell has wrested back control of Ultra Payloaded, which debuted at an unusually low 91 on the Billboard Charts. He's set up his own independent label, Bells Are Ringing, to facilitate his ambitious plans for the group, which now consists of singer Etty Lau Farrell, bassist Carl Restivo, guitarist Nick Perri (of Silvertide) and drummer Jordan Plosky following the departure of Nuno Bettencourt and Kevin Figueiredo shortly after the album's release.

"What I wanted to do with Columbia, which they didn't agree to, was to be a completely digital artist," says Farrell, a committed environmentalist. "And the reason they didn't want to do it, if I could tell you the truth, is because they have an overhead and they really need to sell those CDs and they need to sell them at a certain cost. I had worked out a way that they could do it, but it wasn't good enough for them, so now I've gone independent. I just use Columbia for distribution. But next time I put out any music, it will be completely digital."

Satellite Party are currently on tour all over North America.

Yet still no one cares about Perry Farrell. I've only heard one song by Satellite Party, and it sucked. Farrell just needs to retire.

I would imagine Perry would know how to put on a decent show.

I didn't think it could get any worse than Satellite Party.
