Black Sabbath go pitch-black

2020-01-30 by Fernando Alves | 24 Comments
Birmingham's mythical heavy metal band announced two 50th anniversary listening sessions for their self-titled debut album in complete darkness, on February 11th. This experience will take place in London, at Number 10, England borough of Hackney, starting at 7:30 and 8:30. The event is organized by BMG and Pitchblack Playback.

Event organisers state:
"Pitchblack Playback is a series of listening sessions where music fans can listen to upcoming album releases and classic LPs like never before in cinemas and other intimate spaces. Not only that, they elevate the experience of listening to the music by staging it completely in the dark - providing the most immersive, detailed and visceral sound experience possible. Sabbath fans now have an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the debut album ‘Black Sabbath’ in a uniquely heightened sensory experience."

The album will be played back in MQA high definition audio.

Black Sabbath's debut album was released on February 13th, 1970, being an undeniable milestone in rock history and often credited as the album that gave birth to heavy metal.

Ozzy: "I wouldn't be sitting here now if I hadn't made music," he said.

"If you saw me at the beginning of last year you'd think I was fucked. But I honestly think making this album is the best medicine I could have had. I was doing something, something I like to do."

Cheers ArsMoriendi

I read in two sources that the album was released on February 11th, but there are others that mention February 13th. I'll check again, to make sure you have two reasons to celebrate ;)

Edit: It seems I have to change it, these days we have to triple check everything we publish...
