A Circle Of Crows Drops Single 2019-10-28 by Panzerchrist | 11 Comments | South Bend, Indiana-based melodic death and black metal act 'A Circle Of Crows' have released the first single from their forthcoming full demo (due out December 20th) entitled 'Będziemy Wolni (We Shall Be Free)'.
Conceptually, it follows the historical accounting of one of Poland's most prolific intelligence officers, and one of the greatest espionage specialists of World War 2, Witold Pilecki.
During that tumultuous passage of time, First Lieutenant Pilecki created and enacted a plan to infiltrate the German concentration camp Auschwitz as a prisoner in an attempt to uncover real, defined details on what transpired beyond the Nazi's borders.

So uh, this is my band. Drums on this were handled by Marco Pitruzzella of Anomolous, Brain Drill, and Vornagar fame, btw. Crazy fucking dude
| | | I do all the vox, choirs, mixing, and general writing. I have a guitarist but as far as major compositions go I do all the big picture stuff. There's a grander concept to the material so I oversee all of that as well :p
| | | alright....this is pretty cool. You shouldn't discredit your guitarist though, he/she is very competent and it's hard to believe that they did not have some sort of influence as far as writing is concerned.
| | | Also, if that's really Marco Pitruzzella then he truly is a mad man.
| | | Oh no, don't get me wrong, he's one of the best guitarists I've ever met. I just meant that while he writes some of the riffs I write the full compositions. And you're right he has a lot of influence on how we write.
And yep, that's definitely Marco. He does drums for the whole project. What's crazy is this isn't even close to the fastest he drums on the project

| | | Ty! Yeah I need to work on my mix. I've produced for other genres but metal is not one I'm super familiar with, as much as I've always listened to it, lmao. Still learning a ton.
| | | you use a reference track? very helpful for metal
| | | Kinda sorta? We play a couple different styles of metal, so I'll look at what the influences are and kinda mix based on the sonic characteristics of a particular album or song by them.
| | | Nice man, getting the drum levels right is one of the hardest parts, and then getting those vocals to sit right is a close 2nd.
| | | Fortunately Marco runs a home studio out of his garage so he's able to inform a lot of the drum sound. I just make sure it sounds powerful enough in the mix or he beats me
Vox I've been doing for like ten years because I started with hip-hop, so that comes a little easier to me. Orienting it appropriately in metal is a new challenge, though. My natural instinct is to shove it low in the mix, but certain styles dictate it sound more...confrontational, I guess. More abrasive and closer.
