RIP Dr. John 2019-06-08 by manosg EMERITUS | 9 Comments | Legendary New Orleans Blues artist Dr. John, passed away Thursday morning at the age of 77, after suffering a heart attack.
Initially a session musician, he released his first solo album, Gris-Gris, in 1968. His music, which was initially characterized as voodoo-funk, blended elements of pop, jazz, boogie-woogie, rock and roll, and of course New Orleans blues. A six time Grammy winner, he released numerous classics and has been inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. RIP Dr. John.
