Incredible album..
|
| |
so hyped to jam this
|
| |
sorry kids deathspell is #CANCELED
|
| |
figures
|
| |
nice, hyped to jam
|
| |
To the Furnaces!
|
| |
This is amazing so far, big step up from their last album
|
| |
rules
|
| |
Ad Arma on repeat
|
| |
Yas
|
| |
I think Ad Arma is actually one of the weaker tracks on this, but I only listened to the whole thing once.
Shit's good tho.
|
| |
You could be right, it just caught my attention right off the bat. Maybe because it's one of more accessible and straightforward tracks (imo). Time will tell
|
| |
Ad Arma! is very accessible for DSO
|
| |
Beyond hyped to jam this, sounds like AOTY material.
|
| |
Damn, even I need to jam this now
|
| |
Standing on the Work of Slaves is an early favorite of mine, but there are a lot of gems here.
|
| |
the lyrics are absolutely hilarious and they definitely weren't supposed to be
|
| |
the lyrics seem sardonic about fascism, I didn't take them at face value
|
| |
absolute killer album.
|
| |
"anonymous"? does that mean nobody knows the identities of the band members?
|
| |
sorta, yea
"Little is known about the band's modern lineup; for example, the band has not credited a drummer since 1999, and although Mikko Aspa is commonly credited as their vocalist, the band has never confirmed this. Deathspell Omega has also not conducted an interview since approximately 2004 (around the release of their third album Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice). The group has never performed live, as they do not consider live shows to be "suitable" to what the band "conveys". There are also no official band photos for Deathspell Omega. "
|
| |
wow thats crazy
|
| |
Delighted that this and the new Misthyrming are 45 mins each, so much easier to jam.
|
| |
Why are people only getting annoyed about Mikko being a bit fashy now when everyone's always known he was a bit fashy?
|
| |
I mean the imagery is kiiiindaaaa iffy considering his background.
From the wiki page on "Palingenesis":
"Palingenesis (/ˌpælɪnˈdʒɛnəsɪs/; also palingenesia) is a concept of rebirth or re-creation, used in various contexts in philosophy, theology, politics, and biology [...] In political theory, it is a central component of Roger Griffin's analysis of Fascism as a fundamentally modernist ideology [...] As part of this death and rebirth Fascism sought to target what it perceived as degenerative elements of society, notably decadence, materialism, rationalism and enlightenment ideology. Out of this death society would regenerate by returning to a more spiritual and emotional state, with the role of the individual core."
Furnaces of Rebirth with links to the Nazi's... yeah... I can see why people are taking issue.
|
| |
'the lyrics also juxtaposition; changing narratives to further add to the sardonicism '
They are also terrible to further add to the amusement
|
| |
Fantastic album, probably their best.
|
| |
we know who the original members were sans drummer, but we don't know if the lineup has changed at all since then.
|
| |
is it all written by one dude, because if it's a collaborative composition then I don't think many of the members could have changed. Just got DO's stamp way too embedded in every album since the second
|
| |
I didn't even realize they had a new one coming out.
|
| |
I just finished jamming drought and saw this, daaamn here we go
|
| |
I don't know much about explaining music, but does Fires of Fristration and Imitatio Dei start with the same lick/arpeggio(?)
|
| |
overrated nazi band streams overrated nazi album. yawn
|
| |
overrated nazi band streams overrated nazi album. yawn
and your point is?
|
| |
he made a point
|
| |
he made a point
I am too dumb to understand as I love listening to that overrated nazi album.
|
| |
People are always bitching, or it's the band logo, or the singer's hair, the color of the artwork, the title track lyrics or the possible political orientation of the band, and forget all about the music, which in my humble opinion is always the most important detail and what really matters.
|
| |
Couldn't agree more.
|
| |

+1
|
| |
1. One nazi drummer does not make a nazi band.
2. This is actually their first album that thematically deals with facism. So do quite a lot of programs on the history channel.
3. This band rules. Fuck you.
|
| |
nah but having an extremely nazi singer and releasing splits with nazi bands on his nazi label with the rest of the band openly saying they share his ideology does a nazi band make
|
| |
This band rules. Fuck you!
|
| |
Ahahaha fuuuuuck yooooooooouuUuUuUuUuUuUuuu. UWU
|
| |
Seems better than Synarchy but perhaps significantly below their best.
|
| |
Didn't feel even remotely dangerous...lacking in madness as well
|
| |

r u conflating people criticizing a band for their logo to criticizing a band for possibly being nazi sympathizers
|
| |
It’s has a dense atmosphere, sounds very ‘thick’. Sonically it isn’t quite as insane as a couple of their previous works but it has a few catchy-ish riffs mixed with subtle moments of eerie tension (which I like). It’s the middle-ground between their ‘Fas, Ite’ era & ‘Paracletus’... which I find more engaging than Synarchy at least.
Time will tell I guess.
|
| |
maybe my favorite full length from them. absolute banger
|
| |
Well I’m only saying I can find more atmospheric ‘allure’ in the new one than Synarchy (worst of the last 4), and that’s after 2 spins. That’s a positive sign.
|
| |
prolly why i like it so much tbh. the more dialed back albeit wholly their own style approach here works really well
|
| |
I’m not the biggest fan of Synarchy, my opinions on that matter are well documented in the review thread but it’s essentially too overtly direct, it lacks any sense of tension building (I won’t elaborate further).
Fas, Ite > Paracletus > (a few EPs fall here) > Si Monventvm > Synarchy (I haven’t heard the first 2 LPs).
At this early stage it’s already surpassed Synarchy so I’m hopeful it’ll continue to grow. Maybe not though, just speculating.

Deathspell Omega, Ben Shapiro, and Rickey of planet Earth are all related in the cosmic theater of life...find out how on strikeofthebeast's Let's Make a Story Together list.
|
| |
Oh shit that 2nd track is great
|
| |
I'm 100% confident that Mikko Aspa is going to either murder someone or have his pedo rumors confirmed and I just wonder how far people will reach to defend the band then
|
| |
u sure have opinions dont you
|
| |
unfortunately
|
| |
i just like the music my man
|
| |
i almost listened to this just now but then i stopped listening to it after the first song and forming no opinion whatsoever
|
| |
im woefully opinionless
|
| |
@Hellscythe: wtf? Erm... yes my opinions on the music are going to completely change if the potentially bad man ends up doing a bad thing. Lol.
|
| |
@Hellscythe
>Doesn't like nazi singers
>Likes Darkthrone and incantation
|
| |
@Hellscythe I don't hear any anti-Semitism on this album. You know you can be a fascist without being a Nazi?
|
| |
go spend 30 seconds reading about mikko aspa
|
| |
">Doesn't like nazi singers
>Likes Darkthrone and incantation"
never heard anything about darkthrone being nazi and I haven't listened to Incantation since I found out about their nazi ties so
nice try though
|
| |
getting asshurt over somebody not liking nazis is not a good look guys
|
| |
Do you really despise a piece of art because a contributor is "evil" in your eyes?
A lot of artwork would be burned on the stake with your mentality.
|
| |
@Hellscythe
Considering you like Transilvanian Hunger which has the phrase 'Norsk Arisk Black Metal' (Norwegian Aryan Black Metal) yeah I guess you should burn that to the stake as well.
As for Incantation, Craig Pillard hasn't been in the band since 1997.
|
| |
they disowned that statement years ago and in no way does it even approach equivalency with the nazi ties DSO has but yet another good try at a "gotcha" my dude
|
| |
darkthrone immediately got rid of it literally the first time they got called on it, and they definitely did it just to be edgy and fit in with the rest of the br0s, specifically varg.
