just another Periphery song, moving on
| |
Hail Stan m/
| |
Please don’t be the actual album title
| |
So they're finally admitting they're a meme band?
| |
They’ve always admitted it other than on juggernaut
| |
[2]
This is nice. I'm happy with this. The album title is goof but whatever, the song is sick.
| |
"Please don’t be the actual album title"
I mean, would you prefer they take themselves seriously? At least they're self-aware right? I think it's funny.
I'm stoked as fuck for the 17-minute opener. People are bitching about that even though most would agree that their best songs are the longest ones. I expect this one to be technical and proggy as fuck, just like the title track on Omega (one of the best songs they've ever written)
| |
Yeah you’re right. I actually thought it was a joke but a different joke (I was thinking Stan in terms of superfan, not misspelled satan) so that’s why I didn’t get it at first
| |
As long as they don’t write a 2 minute symphonic electronic outro to every song this time around I’ll be happy
| |
cant wait for Periphery V: UwU whatst his *notices mishas bulge* rawr xd we r so randumb n quirky heehe
| |
Damn, Misha is doing work on here.
| |
This sounds like it might be at least a little bit fun
| |
whatever?
| |
yeah this will be fun. if this track is any indication, it will be meaty and heavy and gnarly.
| |
Anyone know who primarily wrote the bass parts? It says Nolly performed bass, but that he's no longer a songwriter. I'm gonna guess it was mostly Misha.
| |
Album should be good.. hope they bring back the electronica intros/outros between songs like PI.
Wonder how different Sentient Glow will sound compared to the Haunted Shores version
| |
This kinda sucks
| |
I mean it sounds like Periphery so I assume big fans will be happy.
| |
It's definitely not gonna convert people who already don't like them
but they crazy anyway
| |
Wow, this isn't bad
| |
Haven't liked anything after Periphery II but this was tasty.
| |
I also wonder if “Crush” is based on Misha’s demo track from his YT channel
Because that demo was siiiiick
| |
This is all well and good but I'm still holding out for Mark's JamUp BIAS riff. They'd better use that in a song this time around or I quit this band.
| |
“Hail Stan” there goes my excitement
Okay, the song slaps though god damn.
| |
Title correction: "Stale Periphery track, new album"
| |
Great song!
| |
Actually slaps
| |
"if anyone wants to know what bad, boring chugging is, this is it"
I've listened to the song 10 times and I still can't really figure out that chugging rhythm, so ok
| |
I'll be a little bit upset if this song is good because it's almost easier to give up on these guys than to hope they'll ever be as good as P2 again, but I guess we'll find out.
| |
Going Independent is a good sign for the album imo
| |
agreed, although it seems to me that they've always been pretty autonomous
| |
Good point. Maybe the hope is solicited.
| |
A lot of people seem to be really enjoying Blood Eagle. I'm not one of them. First two minutes sounds like all the bands I used to listen to like 10 years ago just with better production.
| |
I really don't think Sumerian had any say in how P3 sounded, there is no need to try to adjust a band like Periphery, they will always be amazing to a certain ground, and I don't see them doing anything that might change that
| |
Sentient Glow is a great old haunted shores song, Chris Barretto must be laughing at them redoing all these old songs he did years ago better than Spencer ever will so far into their career
| |
how are they still reviving old tracks? haven't they done it on every single release so far?
| |
man this friggin rocked. some of their heavier stuff in a while. people love to hate this band for some reason. spencer's screams have improved immensely over the years. never thought he could sound this heavy.
| |
Not really hearing all the "sounds just like Periphery, move on" comments. This was pretty f*in heavy.
| |
yeah, i could understand people not liking the screams on P1 but they are 100x stronger now
| |
thought the first few minutes or so we’re pretty tight but it overstays it’s welcome and spencer’s vocal lines are weak
so exactly like periphery
| |
all vocals? or just the clean vocals? choose carefully
| |
cleans. screaming isn’t anything special tho
| |
matt halpern still a hell of a drummer
| |
Song is fun, good but not great
| |
I personally like the throw back to older tracks/material
| |
Verm whatever happened to your YouTube
| |
"while I u derp i djent"
same
| |
goddamn this is good
| |
It would be so easy for me to just dismiss this band as a "guilty pleasure" and some harmless fun I could have listening to metal once in a blue moon...but because they made Juggernaut: Omega now I know they're actually capable of a borderline masterpiece and therefore expect this to happen again.
| |
guilty pleasure and harmless fun is them on a good day including omega
handful o bangers across their discog tho
| |
Love it. Excited for the whole album, and it's coming sooner than expected! Getting tired of albums being announced 17-months in advance with a drip-feed of singles every 4 months until release.
| |
same, I'm really glad we only have to time 2 months.
fuck While She Sleeps, announcing albums half a year in advance...miss me with that
| |
this fucking rules, holy shit. also his cleans aren't weak here, he literally hits an A5 at around 2:40 or so.
| |
Periphery fanboys will think this is the best track ever
| |
Expecting low-fi trebly tone with infinite tremz and blasts and harrowing screams raining from the night sky on Chvrh Bvrner...
Man seriously
| |
Always funny to see how much hate these guys get.
| |
Just fucking died in the middle of the gym laughing at that title. Love these guys. Hopefully they bounce back.
| |
There's a good chance I probably wouldn't be listening to these guys as much as I do if Spencer wasn't their singer, so there's more to it than the djent. Lol
| |
'Love these guys. Hopefully they bounce back.' [2]
| |
"There's a good chance I probably wouldn't be listening to these guys as much as I do if Spencer wasn't their singer"
same, like I get that his cleans can be annoying but he is a huge part of Periphery's identity to me. There's some charm in his cheesiness, but of course it's the insane guitar work that usually keeps me coming back.
| |
@ButtBoy: That's pretty much how I see it as well.
| |
Did not expect the comment section to be positive, but I’m liking it m/
| |
eh yeah, I mean these dudes could write the best metal album of the year and you'd still have the same 10 sputnik users shitting all over it because they don't know any other way. but yes, I'm also glad to see this much positivity so far
| |
band is gay music sucks, pass
| |
pretty solid. i liked it
a 17 minute intro though? excuse me?
| |
hey, I think that's actually Misha ^
| |
holy fuck lol
| |
Haha! Misha sighting. And dropping truth bombs to boot.
| |
Hi Misha!
Song slaps.
| |
Killer song. I wish they would take themselves more seriously though... what a retarded album title lmao. Even though it made me laugh it’s like these guys have too much potential to be a meme band
| |
I don't think "taking themselves seriously" would really work for them tho. Just not the band's persona. In the end, an album title is just an album title. It's not like you'll be thinking "hail stan, hail stan..." the entire time you're listening to it. They're just kind of embracing the whole subtitle joke
| |
i want spencer sotelo to drink my hot load in his silver audi like he was anderson cooper on new years' eve
| |
Song rocks, the solo is also quite interesting
| |
sounds good to me
| |
True ButtBoy as long as the music is good I could care less. It could be called peepeepoopoo n I’d still check it out
| |
God damn this is bad. Just when I thought they did a good job on P3 after the shitty Beta / Gamma shit
| |
Haven't listened to anything this band has put out since their debut. It all sucks.
| |
i'll give it a spin when it's out. love their debut and p2, not so much the rest of the discog, but pumped for this
| |
Album title owns hard.
Song is pretty good too.
| |
Song rules hard tbh, think I already like it better than anything on P3.
| |
"Haven't listened to anything this band has put out since their debut. It all sucks."
The expert has spoken
| |
so boring! Just constant chugging with hardly any direction, spencers awful vocals as always, and my god I don't know if it's the youtube video or not but the production sounds terrible.
| |
"Haven't listened to anything this band has put out since their debut. It all sucks."
Sputnik in a nutshell.
| |
"spencers awful vocals"
oh god i think i'm having an aneurysm
| |
and just like everything outside the debut, this is so unbelievably meh
| |
preemptively 5 this or take a toboggan ride into the fiery chasm of Mount Erebus
| |
Despite the memes/perceptions they have taken themselves seriously in a number of technical aspects. This track is confusing to analyze even from a polyphonic metal perspective. It's influenced by their past output, other bands' work and a new sound. After this I'm hoping we will get some juicy progressive metal/thrash/djent, rather than some rote shit spun out with a different take, chances are we will get some of both.
| |
Also Spencer is a truly talented vocalist. His screams and growls have gotten better, and his best technical strength as a vocalist has been his immense range and actually good pitch, but his clean-vocal entrance into this track is underwhelming. I really hope they figure out how they want to execute a shifting sound better than this
| |
A few weeks ago I listened to Nihilist Blues by Bring Me The Horizon and thought about how it was the least Bring Me The Horizon sounding song I'd ever heard. Today I listened to Blood Eagle by Periphery and thought about how it was the most Periphery sounding song I'd ever heard.
| |
Only thing I'm worried about is the lyrical content. Song titles aren't giving me the best of hopes there.
| |
"Haven't listened to anything this band has put out since their debut. It all sucks."
"Sputnik in a nutshell."
For those that have been looking for an accurate portrait of Sputnikmusic.com
| |
this is doing nothing for me
| |
if that riff and that guitar solo did nothing for you, maybe metal just aint your thing
| |
Yea that's the same thought that comes to me in cases like this XD
| |
Misha sighting, welcome back
| |
I wasn't big on P3 at all but this actually might be one of their best tracks I've heard in a while. Cautiously optimistic for the new album.
| |
Damn this bangs
| |
When I said I hadn't listened to anything post-debut I meant in depth, cause it all has been horrifically off-putting to the point that I have no desire to dig deeper. I listened to all of P2 once through, and since then singles here and there cause they just keep getting shittier.
| |
this song has some cool sections but zero flow
| |
Song hits hard at the beginning but it gets old.
| |
"I listened to all of P2 once through, and since then singles here and there cause they just keep getting shittier."
::cough:: bullshit ::cough::
| |
This song rules. So much darker sounding than their other work, and the vocals are absolutely insane.
| |
Hope that 17 minute song is killer , really can’t get into this song
| |
Periphery try Beatdowncore and what a surprise how that turned out to be awful.
| |
wtf lmao
| |
“Beatdowncore” dude I’m dying laughing
| |
This thread just keeps on giving.
| |
"Beatdowncore"
wut?
| |
Periphery is the GOAT this has already been established idiots
| |
Great track and vocals slay!
| |
pretty wicked track
| |
Track rules. Spencer sounds great.
| |
if only i liked this band
| |
I still fuck with the second album and some of the droney shit off Omega.
| |
If Periphery III and "The Walk" hate-fucked behind a dumpster in the parking lot of a Hooters with no protection.
| |
alright dude now calm down
| |
kinda warming up to this tbh
| |
ayyyy
| |
does it djent?
| |
yeah im not hopeless for the new record after giving this a few spins. we will see.
| |
"Blood Eagle" is quite a decent song. Can't wait for the new album
| |
Yeah this song gets better with each listen.
| |
One of the first songs in awhile by this band that's listenable. Nice step up for them. That solo is ridiculous
| |
Rofl, there have been albums of listenable material from them.
| |
Rosaparks has no clue obviously.
| |
