High on Fire reveal new album

High on Fire return this fall with a brand new album, called Electric Messiah. The LP is scheduled to be out on October 5 through eOne. The band also debuted the title track, which is an homage to Lemmy.

Regarding 'Electric Messiah', Matt Pike mentioned: "When Lemmy was still alive I always got compared to Lemmy, so I had this dream where he got pissed at me. He gave me a bunch of s***, basically, and was hazing me. Not that he didn't approve of me, but like I was being hazed. The song is me telling the world that I could never fill Lemmy's shoes, because Lemmy's Lemmy. I wanted to pay homage to him in a great way. And it turned out to be such a good title that the guys said we should call the album Electric Messiah. Although at first the working title was Insect Workout With Lemmy."

The song can be listened to at the following link : http://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2018/08/06/635393474/high-on-fires-electric-messiah-pays-homage-to-motorhead-s-lemmy?t=1533567555243

HYPE!!! Although the last one wasn't amongst my favourite HoF records it was still solid af so looking forward to this, hoping it can eclipse the last 2.

Will listen later.

Always preferred HOF’s slower jams tbh.

Song was fun for 2 minutes, riffs feel recycled.

They’ll never top “Blessed Black Wings” in my opinion. Riffs do sound a bit recycled.

High on Fire isn't really a band that needs to change it up to stay good. Song is just as solid as the faster tracks on Luminiferous, I'm happy with it.

Man, Kurt Ballou is a busy man, and so is Pike. That Sleep comeback was immense. Gonna check that track later.

Iunno I didn't find much to love on their last album. De Vermis was maybe the one effort by these guys that connected with me, that album was straight up chaos and deliciously heavy. Every other album they've made just doesn't do it for me.

DMV is their best, but BBW comes close. DITC is also excellent. I don't view the others as essential unless you're a big fan.
