Ladybaby return with new lineup 2018-04-03 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 5 Comments | Japanese idol metal band Ladybaby have announced a new lineup, in a teaser video posted to YouTube. The band had been inactive since November 2017 when one half of the remaining band, Rei Kuromiya, left the band citing vocal problems due to the stress of touring, and a desire to focus on her own more organic band BRATS.
Along with sole remaining original member Rie Kaneko, the new lineup includes 19 year old model Nana Ikeda, 18 year old Emiri Arima, and 16 year old rookie Fuka Karasawa. In addition to the new lineup, the band have reverted to the name of Ladybaby, having operated under the name "The Idol Formerly Known As Ladybaby" since the departure of Ladybeard in 2016 over contract disputes.
While Ladybeard has gone on to form Deadlift Lolita, and Rei Kuromiya has begun work on a full length BRATS album, Ladybaby have released their final compilation as IFKA Ladybaby in Japan. Containing all singles and B-Sides from that era, and featuring previously unreleased track "Shibuya Crossing", the box-set Beside U is expected to be released internationally via JPU Records on 25 May, after a listing emerged on Season of Mist's distribution store. Word on new original material featuring the revamped lineup is yet to be announced, although the band has updated their social media with new photographs, a new logo, and information on each new member.

Well, this is interesting to me. I actually liked their evolution into IFKAL, seemed like the music was being taken a lot more seriously. This further re-structuring only makes me think that even further. Excited to see what's next.
