Flobots vs Logan Paul

2017-12-21 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 29 Comments
Alternative rap group Flobots have last night released a diss track aimed at Vine star-turned-YouTuber Logan Paul, regarding his use of lyrics from their 2008 hit "Handlebars" without permission, and appropriating them into misogynistic themes. Along with alleging that Paul stole their song, they also criticize his attitude towards women, and his juvenile humour.

Logan Paul has so far not responded. For their part, Flobots released their latest album, No Enemies, on May 5 this year to a positive critical reception. The album was self-funded and released through Pledgemusic, exceeding its goal by $31,000. The band are currently on tour supporting the album.

Jesus, didn't even know Flobots were still going. Either way, in its context this song was pretty cool.

I mean I don't think him responding to it was childish. He took a song about people growing up to do shitty things as extreme as a holocaust and used it in a song about fucking a girl while comparing her to a bicycle. I'd be pissed too if some ideological statement I made and care about was used in a pretty misogynistic or demeaning way.

Jake and Logan Paul are some of the worst cunts on the net. I'm hoping they both fade into obscurity soon.

They're more relevant 15 years into their career than Logan Paul will be 5 years into his.

Only recently learned that Flobots sued Logan Paul for plagiarism late last year, idk if the court case was settled yet but it did lead to Logan taking his song down. I think they decided to sue after Logan claimed he had no idea who they were - if you're going to borrow heavily from another artist, the best thing you can do is say "Yeah I know who they are and just wanted to pay homage to the original track, I just overstepped the mark with the amount I borrowed and I apologise". Do that and the original artist might be more inclined to be lenient with their action. Denying any knowledge of them just makes you more guilty.
