New Ice Nine Kills song

2017-05-29 by sempiturtle | 24 Comments
Metalcore group Ice Nine Kills have released a new single, titled "Enjoy Your Slay." The song is based on the novel The Shining by Stephen King, and is the first piece of new material released by the band since their 2015 album Every Trick in the Book. Sam Kubrick, grandson of Shining director Stanley Kubrick, is also featured on vocals.

I thought this was the same level as their last album, which I enjoyed.

seems like they've progressively put the instrumentals further towards the backseat in favor of the vocals and horrow movie synths. sucks because some of their older material had surprisingly dope riffs and leads

Yea I'm really tired of this sound from them, their material before Every Trick In The Book was so much better than it. Also this isn't their first piece of new material considering they released the re-recorded version of a much superior album of theirs in January

How is a re-recording not new material?

because i don't even think it's actually re recorded, it just sounds like it was remixed/mastered with a few vocal embellishments but it's old material technically

even if it was re recorded, it's still technically old material since every bit of it came out like 6 years ago or whatever

Can't stand this band.

I guess so, but it was actually re-recorded because some of the guitar/drum parts are varied from the old album, plus Spencer's clean vocal lines are not the same tone as they were on the old record, same with his screams because he does all the highs now, plus the lows and mids are beefier.

Didn't they completely change the vocals cause they had a different (third) vocalist on the original?

Yea Spencer does all vocals except for those gross yells that JD does. Shane did the highs on the old album but he's long gone, which is good because Spencer does a much better job

They try hard and fail badly. Might become worse than the last album.

This is really really cheesy, and that's coming from somebody who enjoys post-hardcore and horror punk
