get on this band, people

love this.
also dave is probably the most verbose frontman in the history of music
|
| |
I love how he regularly almost edges into iamverysmart territory and then he hits you with the self-deprecating banter and he's just a normal dude (who's extraordinarily talented at music) again
|
| |
yeah he tows that line well. i understand why some people may think he's pretentious but i've kinda trained myself to be okay with stuff that's a little ostentatious as long as it has substance, GoY is nothing if not for substance
|
| |
I think he deliberately plays it up to hit you with the humour at points though. "now I'm a paragon of virtue - but bullshit aside, I'm not living my life on the phone" from Sjamboksa is the best example. he's really developing a distinct lyrical voice already and they're two albums in, this guy is insane
I'm just glad anyone else on this site has heard their music

| |
yeah man these lyrics are some poetic shit.
i saw them at a pub gig and i saw them at laneway and both times they played to the venue beautifully. i touched on it briefly in the review that i wrote but its amazing how their stuff is so profound and yet people can still mindlessly vibe to it like its proper arena rock
|
| |
ah didn't know you'd given em a review, you captured the dichotomy of the album really well. Magnolia really does make you want to curl up and cry but shout fuck you to the world in the same instant doesn't it
|
| |
all good rowan. i wrote it more for myself because it was an important album for me throughout last year. and yeah its a fucking event of a song
|
| |
These guys suck...hate seeing them get constant airtime over here in AUS and hate hearing how they put on the sikest live shows eva
|
| |
huh
subjectivity is funny

Another great single, excited for this album now. Might try to catch them live, too.
