Église disband, final material 2017-04-13 by dynamic range police | 21 Comments | Hardcore / sludge act Église are not a band anymore. Started in Denmark during 2011, the band's self-titled debut full-length album was released in 2016. The separation was friendly and the decision was mutual. The band's last show took place on March 10th.
From their Facebook page:
"So yeah, we broke up and have gotten a lot of questions regarding this seemingly abrupt decision.. Truth is we didn't really "feel it" anymore, and came to a mutual conclusion.. We're all still friends..
We have some final material that we'll release digitally, the coming days: A single, an old unreleased album - featuring a vastly different sound - and finally our concluding EP..
We're still selling our remaining vinyls and merch for the time being. Eventually all remaining shirts will be donated to charity.."
All of the final material is available through Bandcamp, name your price. The single, 'Paths', was already a live show staple. Listen to 'Paths': http://eglise.bandcamp.com/album/paths
The Past was recorded in early 2012 with a different line-up, soon after the band's formation. However it was never released until now because: "Eventually we felt that our sound had evolved too much, for this album to be representative of our band and the record was shelved - to be released when we were done as a band".

really liked their first album, it was some serious botch/converge worship but it was done well. completely forgot what the band was called, which is why i'm glad this article came up, but the news sucks.
| | | damn whatup with all the cool hardcore cats disbanding after one or two albums
| | | Damn cool band. RIP.
| | | well this is kind of a bummer. i really dug their s/t
| | | and then they were gone, damn. rip, s/t was sweet
| | | yeah, s/t ripped, atleast LLNN is still around but I still miss these dudes' old band The Psyke Project
| | | Gonna give these guys a try
| | | Bummer, s/t rules [n]
The Mountains plays in my head very often
| | | shit, too soon.
| | | "an old unreleased album - featuring a vastly different sound"
not really though. different, not vastly different.
| | | damn, s/t rules hard and was one of my favorite releases last year
excited to jam the new EP though
| | | short lived lmao
| | | well the EP fucking slays but wish it was longer than three songs, killer send-off though
| | | fuck
| | | Too bad for these guys disbanding, their album was great.
| | | DAMN. ://
| | | What do you guys think about the unreleased album? I like it about as much as the s/t.
| | | yeah it's nice, i wish they did a melodic track in the middle of all the fuckery tho and then fucked us all again, works every time
| | | Of course a band I'm getting into breaks up.
| | | If anyone's interested, the band We Are Among Storms features the vocals, drums and guitar of Eglise and their s/t debut EP is now on Spotify.
| | | What was the point of breaking up if they have at least 3/5ths of their former band?
