Havok Drop New Single

2017-01-20 by Ebola | 21 Comments
Re-thrash titans Havok have unveiled "Hang 'Em High," the lead single from their fourth full-length record, Conformicide. As is typical with Havok songs, it is politically-charged and takes aim at politicians and big business.

Conformicide is set for release on March 10.

Might like this a bit more than the new Warbringer track. It's simple, but I love the aggression.

Fuuuuuuck the bassist is really killing it on this track.

Track is excellent overall, thankfully. Good to know there will be at least 2 enjoyable thrash albums this year.

Run of the mill. I feel like lyrically they write the same song over and over again

Not bad, but not even close to as good riffs as the last 2 albums.

Will have to see if the rest of the material is good. I feel like they tried to get more 'prog' here, but it kinda failed. I don't listen to Havok because I want to be wowed from amazing writing and technicality, I just want riffs. If I want prog thrash I'll listen to Voivod, Coroner, or Vektor.

I really hate the term "rethrash". You wouldn't call a NWOBHM band "re-metal" just because the NWOBHM happened after traditional heavy metal, would you? Would you call Origin "re-death"? How about calling Insect Warfare "re-grind"? You see how stupid and condescending this looks?

There, there. It's gonna be okay.
Re-thrash is a widely used and generally accepted term used to describe modern thrash bands that attempt to revive the sounds of their 80s counterparts.

I think he knows that. I totally agree that it's stupid as 90% of genre tags are.
