QOTSA New Album

2017-01-11 by Sowing STAFF | 60 Comments
Troy Sanders - member of Mastodon who is in the band Gone is Gone with QOTSA's Troy Van Leeuwen - has confirmed that the rock group Queens of the Stone Age does indeed plan to release a full-length LP before the end of 2017. Sanders let the information slip in an interview with Rolling Stone:

"I like to think none of us needs this band, but we all really want this band. When that's the mentality, this is special to the four of us. Otherwise, we wouldn't dedicate the first week of 2017 to working on this band. For example, Queens of the Stone Age, Mastodon and At the Drive-In have all been recording, and we all have new records coming out this year."

2017's yet-to-be-titled record will be the band's seventh LP and will serve as the follow-up to 2013's ...Like Clockwork. Revisit the lead single from that record, 'My God is the Sun':

I don't think QOTSA was ever like a "supergroup" and during ...Like Clockwork Josh Homme was the only official member and all the legendary musicians who showed up were more or less cameos

Other than that HYPE

@TVC: Removed the super group as that was more or less my own personal touch b/c of having members from RHCP and Matodon. Anyway, you're right.

@onion: definitely my favorite QOTSA album, and actually the one that got me into them

Unless that's already been done before and I wasn't aware

Mastodon are spinning their wheels these days and not nearly as captivating. But a new QOTSA album has the potential to be good I think.

Change the article title to include new Mastodon and ATDR albums and it would explode even more.

Omg Mastodon is pairing up with O'Brien again AND making a dark and emotional album. Damn I hope it is like CtS, that album is top gun.

The band has stated that the album is packed with ideas and resembles way more CtS than the last two albums. I think it is Brand Daylor who said that it also has that ''missing quality'' the last two offernigs may have lacked.

@NorthernSkylark I was talking about Mastodon. Brann Dailor (whose name I mispelled terribly) is the drummer of Mastodon and was referring to ''The Hunter'' and ''Once More Round The Sun''.
