Silberman shares 'New York'

Peter Silberman - lead vocalist/guitarist for The Antlers - has released a second track in advance of his forthcoming solo debut Impermanence. The song, titled 'New York', can be streamed below along with the accompanying music video.

New York:

Impermanence will mark the first full-length release by Silberman (or the Antlers) following a scare in which Peter lost hearing entirely in his left ear. After retreating from music for a couple of years his hearing has returned, although not without any trepidation from Silberman. In a recent interview, he commented on the prospect of returning:

"I started trying to play again and trying to sing again, testing where the boundary was of the sensitivity and of the pain of it. What I found was that if I sang very quietly and if I played guitar very quietly that this would be a path for me."

Not a fan of either of his new songs to be honest, as much as that pains me to say. I just hope he gets to a point health-wise and mentally where he's able to return to The Antlers and make another Burst Apart or Attic.

I was excited to hear this, but it didn't do much for me on first listen. Kind of disappointed.

I like New York better than Karuna. No idea why but I'm getting some very loose Paul Simon vibes from New York...is that just me? Either way the whole extra soft thing is gong to take me time to get used to because I always considered his work with the Antlers to be on the quieter/softer side anyway.

No mention of that Transcendless Summer ambient song he did last year? I wasn't a big fan. Haven't checked this out yet though.

New York was a fairly nice song elevated by beautiful vocals. Karuna is absolutely captivating. It's like listening to old Kayo Dot, but with Pete's voice, and it's going to places I've never heard before. Wow.

@Sowing: I can definitely hear the Paul Simon vibe. Overall, a solid B effort.
