Jacob Bannon solo album

2016-11-05 by Lelle | 38 Comments
Converge founder Jacob Bannon's side project Wear Your Wounds has announced its first full album release via Deathwish Inc. The album, titled "WYW", will be available in stores April 7th 2017.

Original announcement:

Wear Your Wounds is the product of years of Lo-fi solo recordings by Converge founder Jacob Bannon. On this release he is joined by guest musicians Kurt Ballou (Converge), Mike McKenzie (The Red Chord, Stomach Earth, Unraveller), Chris Maggio (Sleigh Bells, Trap Them, Coliseum), and Sean Martin (Hatebreed, Cage, Kid Cudi, Twitching Tongues). Together they have created a powerful album that is unlike anything they have ever individually worked on. The album is comprised of ten emotionally heavy songs that call to the slower, more epic leanings of Converge, as well as his previous work in Supermachiner. Bringing to mind the dense multi-layered approach of Swans and early Pink Floyd, while being as vulnerable as influences Sparklehorse, Songs: Ohia, other like minded artists.

Been waiting for this for so long. If you guys want to get an idea of where this is most likely going, check out the Wear Your Wounds / Revelator split EP from 2012.

Could be good, but I'm holding fingers crossed that Kurt Ballou does a solo album in the vein of that I Need a Doctor song he did.

i sorta like seeing album release dates that are rlly far from the present; nowadays, theres a lot less time between the announcement and the release to build up hype.

that said, hope a new converge record hits before this one.

I enjoyed The Blood of Thine Enemies, the Wear Your Wounds / Relevator split, and the Supermachiner stuff so this will certainly be interesting

They've talked about working on/demoing new Converge stuff at this point but it's unlikely they're in the studio yet. On AWLWLB they recorded everything in like December/Januari and the album release was in October so yeah, probably not

now that I think about it, don't know why this is being called a solo project. supermachiner is more solo than this

Lelle

I think it's pretty similar. Supermachiner also started out as solo recordings done in his home and then he enlisted some additional people to contribute when it was time to put together a studio release. For example Kurt Ballou was a huge part of that project. We shall see how much of the writing the other people contributed to this time around.

"Jacob Bannon solo album" was just the most descriptive and encompassing wording I could come up with when putting together the post
