Scarlett Johansson Forms Band

2016-09-23 by Snide | 52 Comments
Popular movie actress Scarlett Johansson (Eight Legged Freaks, Home Alone 3, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie), has announced that she is now the vocalist of a band she has formed titled Sugar for Sugar. They have recently released their first song titled "Bizarre Love Triangle", which is a cover of the original by the band "New Order". She formed the band and recorded the cover to bring awareness to her amfAR, which is an AIDS charity foundation, and it will be featured on a compilation album with many other bands trying to bring awareness to the same charity, and cause.

BLT is one of my favourite songs of all time, but this is a pretty bad cover. Her monotone voice does not work at all on this track. Sounds like she's just talking over the song.

It'll be a great adaptation, just like the greatest movie of all time, Dragonball Evolution!

hey so what is it with no one caring that so many celebrities have fairly good voices and good music

like, if pop music is as soulless and manufactured as people say, what's to stop, say, rich sexy celebrities like scarjo or marion cotillard or any of the other fairly well-known celebrities from working with some pretty talented people and dominating the fuck out of the airwaves

I mean I guess there's ariana grande but w/e

or maybe they're all artsy enough to keep themselves only doing endless tom waits covers

I doubt this song is gonna sell that well, Scarlett doesn't have much of a voice.
As for Eight Legged Freaks, that movie is fun as hell.

I'm not usually the type of person to get super-upset about whitewashing in films but the fact that they chose ScarJo for the lead for the new Ghost in the Shell movie is so disappointing. She's done so many sci-fi/Mary Sue characters it's just exhausting to see her in another role like this. Should've been a Japanese actress or at the very least a lesser-known actress.

I like ScarJo and New Order, but pairing them together wasn't as enjoyable as I had hoped

@Nastycrab Well, the problem isn't exactly whitewashing in this case, it's more that Scarlett Johanson doesn't seem fit for the role.

What Mary Sues has she played besides ummmm.... Lucy? Was that the name of that movie lol

I mostly remember her from Under the Skin, Her, Don Jon, The Prestige, and I guess The Avengers movies kinda fit the Mary Sue thing she's probably one of the least idealized characters in those movies lmao

she can pull off the major. i belieeeve. i'm getting annoyed with people saying she should be played by a Japanese actress. if you say ScarJo doesn't at all resemble the major, you're lying. she's a good fit imo.

Nice movie choices [5]

They just released a teaser for Ghost In The Shell the other day so expect a trailer soon. Idk what to think. For one she's hot as hell, mostly talented and is very well known. That's why she was picked. I personally agree it should've been a debut for some Japenese no-name but I'm not gonna shit all over the idea of it because that's the only thing we have right now.

I won't deny that she's definitely played enough of the Mary Sue characters though. After Under The Skin, I'm really done with it, even after seeing her naked.

I'm so freaking sick of hearing about Ghost in the Shell "whitewashing". This has nothing to do with that. Did you just need to come up with some reason to complain about her or something?

@mabbit well scarlett Johansson the musician is also scarlett Johansson the actress so it is relevant to comment on a movie she was just cast in that shouldn't have been her but continue on masquerading as if you're saying the right thing to secretly support your white power movement where you are more outraged than the person whos' comment you targeted

@mabbit no I'm just tired of her more recent film roles and feel like she's being typecasted and I feel like a fresh face would've been better for the role of the major.

Shes got a baby face, she doesnt have the charisma to olay that character. Mokoto (did i get the name right?) is a true badass and leader.

Yeah. I cannot see Scarlett Johanson tearing her arms appart by pulling on something with all her strength. It's going to look like "damn, I broke a nail," same thing with giving orders to Batou "do this or I'm going to pout !"
I truly like her in many of her roles but she is not believable as a warrior.
I would have been less shocked by Charlize Therone for example (a younger Charlize Theron maybe). It's an easy pick after Mad Max IV. Or the woman from Sicario and Edge of Tomorrow.

The song reminds me of that one:

Even not taking into account the whitewashing (which casting one of the whitest people with one of the whitest names for a major role in an Anime/Manga apaptation is) - how many "badass" roles did she have? And how many of those were well implemented/written?

The only one that spontaneously comes to my mind is Black Widow - which was... not really that good.

Not my type of shit.

Which reminds me, are there actually any actresses who have consistently had badass roles? The ones that come to my mind either weren't that good or weren't consistent.

Storm In A Teacup
September 28th 2016

Charlize Theron maybe but that's a stretch...I think she may be the best tho if not consistent...there's probably someone else

I guess you could also argue for Milla Jovovich, but some of those Resident Evil movies are rough to get through.

Wolfhorde
September 28th 2016

Lena Headey is pretty much the only consistent badass actress from the top of my head.

Milla in Resident Evil is a consideration but Resident Evil is shit and I couldn't sit through most of these movies on the whole so it's hard to say on that account and in Fifth Element she wasn't really badass. Olga Kurylenko has had badass roles but Idk how many, possibly just a few (e.g. Centurion). Definitely Theron in Mad Max but then we have the consistency issue again. Uma Thurman in Kill Bill but again no consistency here. Then we have Melanie Laurent in Inglourious Basterds but again no consistency.
