I think The Abyss Looks Into Me definitely had a hint of these new sounds. The first EP is boring as dirt though and Maelstrom is only worth hearing for a couple of tracks.

Maelstrom was pretty good already, I still jam songs like Hierophant and Glimpse Of The Unseen regularly.

This sounds like a solid deafheaven song. ditching their crust influences makes this band pretty much loose its one distinguishing feature in my opinion, pretty disappointed.
