Yung Lean starts his North American tour next week but in the meantime he's dropped his latest music video for "Miami Ultras". The song is off of his album Warlord, which dropped at the end of last month.

The video is directed by Marcus Söderlund and Yung Lean.

it's about aesthetic and cultural relevance, some level of irony, and good beats

it's the distillment of cultural movements and facets into a pretend-oblivious project

people keep applying things like "cultural relevance" and other stupid things to lean. just because it's ironic to you doesn't mean it is to the artist. also "pretend-oblivous project" what?

pretending that you're oblivious to the memes and the culture that surrounds your project

1. regardless of what yung lean might want, the way he made his name known in the music industry is undeniably part of his appeal; it's part of his charm, his whole aesthetic, his beats and his rapping

2. dont care whether he finds it ironic at all, do u even art

3. "pretend-oblivious project" because you'd have to be brain-dead to believe lean himself doesn't know what position he has on today's music scene

We make a meme out of it not him. If you like lean for any of these reasons you don't actually like lean.

Which I don't think you do and that's fine. I for one enjoy his sound without the memes or "cultural movement" or "distilment of cultural movements" whatever the fuck that is. Not everything needs a pseudo-intellectual analysis.
