In all seriousness this has potential.

I'M IN A METALCORE BAND AND I'M REALLY ANGRY ABOUT EVERYTHING GOING ON IN THE WORLD
- Architects
|
| |
Sam's vocals remind me of the dude from Silent Planet now
|
| |
Sounds interesting.
|
| |

|
| |
You know they cut off just before a trademark Carter "BLEGH"
I'm looking forward to this. It's good that Architects have taken a more political direction imo, and in the current political climate with the Retarded Right gaining influence in the US and Europe, more bands are gonna follow suit. It's a breeding ground for political music.
|
| |
yah people who think politics should stay out of music are idiots
|
| |
"You know they cut off just before a trademark Carter "BLEGH""
Man, I hope so. Those rule.
|
| |
They're normally conservatives that get pissy about the fact that their favourite band is a bit more liberal.
See: Municipal Waste's Trump shirt.
|
| |
albums called All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us

>damn i didn't realise how much they'd improved commercially
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architects_(British_band)#Studio_albums
yeah i'm not sure how/when but a LOT of metalcore/post-hardcore bands have been doing really well commercially in the past few years (e.g. of mice and men going from #128 on US chart for first album to #4 on US chart for third album)
|
| |
Calling the right retarded....
|
| |
friendly reminder that their last album was better than Hollow Crown

I'll give it a shot. LT//LF was arguably the best thing they've done (it's their best imo), so I hope they continue down that route.
|
| |
Lost Forever, Lost Together is my favorite thing they've released so I'm pretty stoked for this.
|
| |
"I'M IN A METALCORE BAND AND I'M REALLY ANGRY ABOUT EVERYTHING GOING ON IN THE WORLD
- Architects"
I believe your only possible motive could be to try to make yourself feel better about your apathy by trying to laugh at those who try harder than you. I too am angry about everything going on in the world - I mean I love my life at this point - but the humans running the world is another story. I'd guess you are one of those people doing nothing about it. Congratulations.
|
| |
Preview got me more hyped than I could've possibly expected. Bitches call it woke like liberal morons; I call it aware. Seriously this shit is on Sputnik? 'Woke'? sweet mercy.
|
| |

I second this notion. :D
|
| |
Was kind of hoping they'd chill on the political stuff but it worked pretty well last time so it's all good.
Also sounds like this songs gonna rage.
|
| |
How is metalcore still a thing?
|
| |
You're really asking how a genre of music is still a thing? I can't imagine what other basic shit baffles you.
|
| |
I strongly dislike their political lyrics and the past three albums have been rather disappointing but will check this out anyway just because I love their first three records. I wish they'd spend more time writing and not pumping out albums so quickly. If they'd refine what they're doing, I feel like they could escape the 3-3.5 territory they've been trapped in.
|
| |
To answer your question JeetJeet, with very few exceptions metalcore has always been derivative as fuck.
|
| |
XingKing: Architects stopped caring about writing music above a 3.5 albums ago. All they care about is touring. Definitely agree with you on the pseudo-political lyrics.
|
| |
loveless rates johnny truant high so im inclined to agree with him
|
| |
"To answer your question JeetJeet, with very few exceptions metalcore has always been derivative as fuck. "
Old metalcore, not really. As for new metalcore, I can completely agree. However, there are still plenty of good metalcore bands out there but you gotta dig deeper to find them. This new album is probably going to blow since they haven't done anything good since Hollow Crown
|
| |
How is metalcore still a thing?
How is shoegaze still a thing tbh
|
| |
or psych or boring alt rock or fucking metal for that matter like holy fuck hasnt there been enough metal yet
|
| |
"How is metalcore still a thing"
Yeah just overall a futile and moronic statement. There is a reflection for every aspect of human ignorance; part of that is of course reflected by an abundance of horrendous metalcore, especially since the genre is a beacon for the internally angry.
I think its bold to suggest Architects haven't cared about making music in a while, given that me and many others love their most recent music, I've seen them perform LF/LT and there be an apparent candidness of love for their own music that carried their show and the crowd. I just believe its clear their touring influences their music - why would a band not want to play something that makes the crowd more interactive/excited if they love touring? Probably doesn't mean they don't care about the music they're making just because you consider their later material less good, even if its more rudimentary also
|
| |
I'm okay with the political lyrics, though I strongly agree that I'd love at least part of their work to move into more personal territory. Feel like it hurts their music that they rarely open up as individuals, and I think it'd provide a welcome reprieve, and/or complement to the political rage.
|
| |
"I'd guess you are one of those people doing nothing about it"
What exactly are Architects doing about anything by writing these lifeless songs. I mean the vocalist has all that stuff going on with Sea Shepherd (props to him for that), but other than that...
|
| |
idk maybe making music people dig is a positive contribution to the world!
|
| |
Yeah I'm at least hoping there will be some personal flair amongst the politics.
|
| |
Why is this thread so bad there's no need for it
|
| |
nostalgia
|
| |
I think I've touched a nerve. My gripe with metalcore is due to there being no innovative or creative bands in the genre in years. It's a deadhorse. Maybe there are some good bands in the genre somewhere out there, they aren't getting any attention though.
Architects have been around for ten + years now, and in that time they've hardly matured as a band, they haven't done anything different since Hollow Crown, unless you count The Here And Now which the band themselves have publicly disowned. The only difference now is that they actually have a large audience as opposed to being complete nobodies before they got some commercial success with THAN.
|
| |
Your gripe with metalcore is the same one nearly everyone has but yeah plenty of good bands theyre just not popular
|
| |
"You're really asking how a genre of music is still a thing? I can't imagine what other basic shit baffles you." "Yeah just overall a futile and moronic statement. "
According to a few people in this thread not everyone feels that way Mort.
|
| |
this is apparently the album cover: https://pp.vk.me/c628424/v628424626/3b96a/aI5r3JgYX6E.jpg
reminds me equally of A Thousand Suns and The Sky's Gone Out by Bauhaus.
|
| |
I like music with a political theme. Shows a band is unhappy with the state of the world and the members aren't gonna sit by and sugar coat it by singing about inane bullcrap instead.
|
| |
Hellscythe - it also kinda looks like an inverse of the word alive's new album cover.
|
| |
Yeah that opening guitar thing sounded nice
|
| |
"this is apparently the album cover: https://pp.vk.me/c628424/v628424626/3b96a/aI5r3JgYX6E.jpg

yh unoriginal even though it does look good
|
| |
"According to a few people in this thread not everyone feels that way Mort. "
yeah but they silly ignore them
|
| |
I don't think their ongoing political commentary impacts how most rate this band. Those of us who find them childish and ignorant are not particularly bothered considering the same lyrical themes are present in 98% of the rock/metal that gets political, and those who support them aren't gonna give them a bump up over other bands b/c the other bands already do the same shit too.
It's like country music. If you're a hardcore leftist and you like country you're gonna have to take the right-wing politics with your music. So what, it's music... it's about the sound.
|
| |
lol i used to feel guilty for listening to marilyn manson when i was still going to church
|
| |
I'm ultra-libertarian and love RATM. Last I checked Morello's riffs still don't sound different because of my political views.
|
| |
"Damn, that harmonic there sounded a tad too socialist for me."
|
| |
I'm awaiting the next wave of Sanderscore to hit the US this year.
|
| |
I'm more excited for the next ambient post-Cruz album.
|
| |
untitled 5 is ok
|
| |
Nobody likes Neo-Trump though
|
| |
Tbh Sam's lyrics were never that great to begin with. At least now they're making people more politically concious I suppose. The 'you fucking pigs' line in these colours don't run is a classic though, best song they've done since Hollow Crown.
|
| |
agreed, These Colours dont run is actually the song that got me into them in the first place
|
| |
red eyes is their best song since hollow crown
|
| |
Maybe below Devils Island. The demo version was good too.
|
| |
Hilarious part about Devil's Island was that they got accused or riot-shaming. For real.
|
| |
hope Sam pulls off the sing-but-I'm-screaming thing on the new song.
|
| |
New song's a great jam. They use breakdowns, but in a clever way.
|
| |
new song's killer, 5 bleghs out of 5
|
| |
Wish they'd make something as good as Nightmares or Ruin again
|
| |
What the fuck is riot shaming. Probably the most idiotic thing I've ever heard.
|
| |
People still listen to metalcore huh?
|
| |
"Hilarious part about Devil's Island was that they got accused or riot-shaming. For real."
a link or something pls
|
| |
New song sounds exactly like I expected it to, which is exactly like their past two records
https://youtu.be/O59JNz7rdIU
|
| |
New song is cool if unsurprising.
I counted 2 bleghs
|
| |
Called it that they cut off just before the BLECH
|
| |
Why does Sam love bleghs so much?
|
| |
It signifies discontent everyone knows that.
|
| |
Oh man, he must be very unhappy then
|
| |
Ya so is stray from the path.
|
| |
Not to be confused with Mitch Lucker's "EHYA"
|
| |
Fish, go look through the comments on the original YouTube video. There were people who (just as was the case in the US with Baltimore, Ferguson, etc.) said "Shut up white boys you don't understand the situation and the justified rage on display here. Them stealing shit / beating people / etc. is the only outlet for this to take." It was funny as hell.
Here's an example of use of the actual term (in the US, mind you): https://twitter.com/RaniaKhalek/status/592864055246888960
You can't make this shit up.
|
| |
left has a real problem with hostility
that being said:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24XgpGryWQA
|
| |
Dude, did you just make me watch a Marxist? I feel violated and I'm gonna start linking you all sorts of Milton Friedman videos as revenge.
Left is decidedly more violent than the right at the personal level (battery, armed robbery, homicide, rape, etc.), though not necessarily when it comes to war or oppression of a state's people. That's more complicated. E.g. both right-wing dictators and Communist regimes are absolutely terrible wrt violence.
|
| |
lol ur a libertarian nvm
yes I did
|
| |
What'd you think I was?
|
| |
probably just another dumb liberal,
but no it's worse
|
| |
Well if you're a Marxist then yeah, it's a lot worse I'm sure.
|
| |
