What Cog have been up to

Sydney prog-rock colossus Cog return for an Australian tour after recording in the US.

The band have built up a fiercely devoted following after years of aggressive touring. When they distilled their esoteric, Tool-influenced heavy progressive rock on 2005's debut album 'The New Normal', many were surprised when the independent album hit 15 on the ARIA charts.

From January to May 2007, Cog have been recording their eagerly-awaited second album. They've been working on the album, reportedly titled 'Sharing Space', at Radio Star studios in Weed, California with producer Sylvia Massey (who has worked with everyone from Tool to Prince).

Cog have announced their 'Boomerang' Tour, where they'll return to Australia to bless their audience with new material. It's a five-date whistlestop tour, hitting Fremantle, Brisbane, a special show to celebrate 10 years of Melbourne's Hi-Fi Bar (which has already sold out and they've had to add another show) and an appearance at Sydney's massive rockfest Come Together.

Tour Dates:

Thursday June 7 – Metropolis, Fremantle

Friday June 8 – The Tivoli, Brisbane

Saturday June 9 – Hi Fi Bar, Melbourne

Sunday June 10 – Come Together Festival, Luna Park, Sydney

Monday June 11– Hi Fi Bar Ballroom, Melbourne

Anal Cunt?

Don't lie. You know that's the greatest band name ever. Back on topic, I've been meaning to check out Cog for quite some time. I think I'll do that soon.

Anal Cunt is also a great band - in addition to having a great name.

Great band. Hopefully this next CD will help them garner some attention in the US. I'm really crossing my fingers for a US tour after this one.

Meh, of the songs I've heard of these guys, they don't seem like my type of thing.

One of australia's best bands right now, just behind the red paintings imo... solid first album and eagerly awaiting the next one

The red paintings are way better from what I've heard of Cog.
