I need some Deftones in my life. Haven't jammed them in ages. Hopefully it's better than the last album. KNY was great but a little uneven compared to DE.

Core title / artwork. Dig the sound also. Hoping for some Saturday Night Wrist esque songwriting on this new one.

Definitely got a SNW meets KNY vibe from this, although I only heard it on my iPhone speaker. Kind of reminded me of This Place is Death from Diamond Eyes.

Oh this is good.

I'm a huge Deftones fan....but for everyone to be saying they are getting snw or kny vibes from a 30 second clip is stupid.

Actually if anything this 30 second snippet doesn't sound too different from what they've been churning out for the last ten years. So I'd hold my hopes at bay for now.
Koi No Yokan was good but definetely not their strongest or boldest effort and showed signs of settling in a sound without bringing much innovation to it.

And by "vibes", be it "SNW" or "KNY", I guess most people mean the fact that this chord progression has already cropped up more than enough on a Deftones album.

I've seen speculation that it's named after Martin Gore from Depeche Mode, because Chino had tweeted back in December that Gore "has written more songs than any other human dead or alive that I've connected with".

I wouldn't even call that speculation. Chino made the album title and wrote that tweet; I'm sure he has to have noticed the connection lmao.

Well at least if this is the tentative art it's going in the opposite direction to Bring Me the Horizon's shite album art. I would've taken the stupid umbrella if I'd known that we'd just end up with that (then again the entire album was just a big let down)

If you shazam the teaser it shows half of the proper album art I think, but they haven't released the full image yet. Don't worry that's not the final art.

Deftones confirmed that they named the album because they're really into Mortician these days.

So bummed. I was hoping to hear the release of their Eros album... Oh well, beggars can't be choosers.

They've already released 2/3s of the album artwork on their Instagram page, the whole thing should be up on Thursday.
