New Chris Cornell Single 2016-01-21 by BeneaththeDarkOcean | 12 Comments | After a long absence away from solo material before coming back with last September's Higher Truth, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave fame has released a brand new single written for, of all things, Michael Bay’s new Benghazi film screed 13 Hours.
“’Til the Sun Comes Back Around” is presumably meant to take its rightful place alongside Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”, Faith Hill’s “There You’ll Be” and Imagine Dragons’ “Battle Cry” as the soundtrack of choice to an array of hammily-acted, melodramatic situations and giant-ass explosions. Since Soundgarden submitted “Live to Rise” for The Avengers soundtrack a few years ago, it would seem that Mr. Cornell has a newfound taste for blockbuster action cinema. No word yet on whether or not Chris will also be contributing to the Dawn of Justice soundtrack in March, though I wouldn’t put it past him at this point.
