The Replacements are back! 2006-04-06 by Alex101 | 6 Comments | Last week, Billboard reported that The Replacements have reformed after a 15 year hiatus. Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson and Chris Mars recorded two new songs for an upcoming retrospective, Don't You Know Who I Think I Was?: The Best of the Replacements. Due June 13 via Rhino Records. The set will feature "Message to the Boys" and "Pool & Dive," the band's first new recordings in 16 years. Session musician Josh Freese plays drums on the two tracks, while Mars contributes backing vocals.
While The Replacements have reformed, there are no details about a tour and new album. Their last album, All Shook Up, was released in 1990 and last show was on July 4, 1991 following a frantic Taste of Chicago performance in Grant Park. The band since then broke up. Their original guitarist Bob Stinson passed away in 1995, due to unknown causes and he was replaced by Slim Dunlap during the release of their 1985 album Tim.
Reissues of both labels Replacements albums with bonus material expected late this year or early 2007. The much anticipated rarities "box set" is expected in 2007/2008.

like any reforming of a classic band i like, i am both apprehensive and excited. but it doesn't say who else played guitar on the new songs, unless it was just Westerberg.
i would dare to check this out.

| | | Pretty frickin' awesome. Hopefully they don't screw up, but I'm a massive fan of what The Replacements did during the 1980s, and would love to see them live.
| | | I hate it when bands re-unite. It's so played out. The Replacements were awesome though so who knows.
| | | As long as ALL the guys get to contribute, then I'm in.
| | | Paul a pussy, WTF? No way....
Wish an album and a tour were coming, but I doubt it. Tommy Stinson is Gun n Roses bass player now and who knows what Mars is up to? I mean he didn't even play drums on this recording.
Oh, and the last album was All Shook Down, not All Shook Up....
