The song in itself isn't anything really special to me, but consider it's basically the album's opener (as said, together with Arrow of Time), I think it works. La Torre sounds thankfully more real than on the s/t, and that's a good thing because in live he is a beast. Personally, what I'm more hyped for is the almost 8 minutes long track, apparently the t/t.
On another note, as soon as the sun rises here I'll be running straight to a point where to recharge my Visa card. Gonna buy that boxset so hard, price ain't bad if you ask me given the contents. There is even the japanese bonus track and two exclusive tracks.

Song's not bad, but I think Todd tries too hard to sound like Tate.
| |
I'll take Todd trying too hard to sound like Tate over Tate trying to hard to sound like himself.
Song's good, but not great.
| |
I like how they put this out like right after Tate's group took a poop in my eardrums. Good Guy Queensryche saves the day.
| |
the sound of the band is fucking great, but the song kinda sucks tbh
| |
hmmmm that ending is really cool though...
| |
these guys went from being one of my favorite bands for quite some time to a band that I can't stand nowadays
| |
Queensyche had always been a 3 LP band for me. Rage for Order, Operation Mindcrime and Empire. Then there was some good stuff I litsened in their debut and that's all. Hope this new album revives whatever love I've had for them. Song is mediocre, but I'm willing to accept it. Cover art is pretty nice, though.
| |
Good song tho a bit monotonous, bad video clip, great Tate clone, bad revolution calling
GREAT ending
| |
Song kicks ass.
| |
"Queensyche had always been a 3 LP band for me. Rage for Order, Operation Mindcrime and Empire."
What about Promised Land???
| |
^ they also have an album called The Warning which is better than most
| |
yea The Warning does rule. Rage is better though
| |
depends on who you ask
| |
@Ocean of Noise
Promised Land is a great album, but while I appreciate it, I'm not that fond of it.
@Titan That's the one I'm refering to when I talk about their debut one. Child of Fire and Roads to Madness are both supreme tracks.
| |
Warning>Rage
| |
lol no
:P
| |
[2]
| |
that whole damn album slays, and i agree with my boy Omair....it's better than Rage
| |
The Warning > RFO. Though I do enjoy RFO quite a bit.
And just for future reference, the lyric in Guardian is "evolution calling" not revolution calling.
| |
^judas dude, it doesn't surprise me that these guys are riding the coattails of the classic era
| |
I don't really hear riding the coattails of the classic era in this song so much as taking elements of those classics and presenting them in a new way. Yeah, I get a Mindcrime vibe from it, but this song stands out from that album too much to really fit comfortably in it. It definitely is its own thing, but it has that common thread of QR-ness.
You want a song that rides those coattails like an exercise machine, check out that song Tate put out, Reinventing the Future, I think it's called? The chorus guitar is basically a direct ripoff of The Mission. The structure of the song is also eerily similar to Eyes of a Stranger too.
| |
i won't be bothering with either honestly
| |
your loss probably
| |
more for you
| |
Titan doesn't like change. It doesn't matter how good either album is, he wouldn't like it. This is the same thing he did with the self-titled. The song isn't riding the coat tails of any of their other albums. It wouldn't really sound right on any of their previous releases.
| |
Fairly cheesy, but definitely destroys Geoff's latest disasterpiece, though that's really not saying much
| |
Yeah the only thing I can really make the "riding coattails" claim about here is the "evolution calling" in the chorus but that's a pretty minor thing.
| |
That's just a play on words, though. No real connection otherwise.
Also, the new Tate album is surprisingly decent. Like the latter-half of the Promised Land album meets Tribe. The only real direct rip off of the Mindcrime album is the song they already released.
| |
I'll remain skeptical until I hear that one... The Stranger was pretty awful.
| |
That's the one truly bad song on the album. It's actually pretty chill.
| |
Huh alright, I'll be sure to at least give it a spin then.
| |
I'm going to review it. It's somewhere between 3.2 and 3.4 depending on my mood.
| |
i hate change
| |
well every single one of your 5s is pre-2000 so that's pretty evident lol
| |
thats not saying much since 5's are hard to come by, especially with the genre's i enjoy
| |
and hey your statement is incorrect
In Rainbows
| |
oh geez wow I missed that one nvm
| |
yeah man, so many 'classics' have been released post 2000
right on guy
| |
Latest self-titled album was maybe the best album of the year for me (2013) , and I had high hopes from the new album (And still have) , but the 2 singles that were released are very boring IMO. Nothing special. Todd is great vocalist , but it's not enough . I also think that in this praticular song his voice is too noizy , not very earable ...
Still I hope this album will be good.
| |
Promise Land rules hard guys.
| |
ya, Promised Land is a great album, i guess it's their third or fourth best.
not stoked on this one though. sounds really boring to me. I admit that I like the guitars, but the vocals and melodies just don't sound convincing.
| |
Promised Land is my favourite of their albums.
| |
i can see where you're coming from, but I find Opeartion: Mindcrime and Rage for Order to be more well-rounded albums. Promised Land is probably their most atmospheric output though.
| |
Promised Land fourth best for me, though that's not saying much since I 5d the first three.
| |
The song is mediocre but Scot's drumming is exceptional.
| |
I listened to their self titled just yesterday. Prety impressed, I must admit. I was worried it would be another mediocre album from a band that tries to stand to its feet and I would attribute its success in fans wanting something to hold on. But, thankfully I was wrong. Now I am even more keen on listening to their new one!
| |
"I was worried it would be another mediocre album from a band that tries to stand to its feet and I would attribute its success in fans wanting something to hold on."
Don't forget that the band you are talking about basically stopped writing its music ages ago, with Mindcrime II Queensryche literally became Geoff Tate's project, with him refusing any help from the other founders. As much as I love the old material (just look at my ratings), if they had fired Tate sooner things would have gone insanely better. Too bad Tate and his wife were the chiefs of the band!
| |
yup. indeed.
| |
so cool
| |
Song rips because of course it does. Vocals are phenomenal.
| |
this is awesome
| |
todd has a great set of pipes
