well thats pretty cool
| |
this song is fuckin goooood.
| |
so good
| |
Song is overproduced imo
| |
I didn't expect this to be any good, they proved me wrong
| |
Refused are back! :D
| |
Yeah this is good
| |
Pretty neat
| |
Total trash but okay whatever guys.
| |
I'm still not that excited for this though. It's good but not that good, I'm not a complete naysayer now though
| |
Still sounds like Refused but they've definetly progressed. Love it.
| |
this is aight
| |
Wow did not see this coming at all. This could be pretty awesome.
BTW the drum fill at 2:30 and 1:24... the same one is definitely in one of their older songs, I just cant put my finger on which one.
| |
A-am I the only one who thinks he sounds a little like Dave Grohl in this song... good song I like it
| |
You're the billionth person to mention that.
| |
We got the airwaves back. The song's instrumentally tight and Dennis Lyxzen sounds like he's raring to go.
| |
I really like this song musically but I'm sorry Dennis sounds fucking horrendous to me. I guess it's just age but man, I was expecting that classic yell. Sounds like they have a completely different singer now.
| |
most of you guys have shit in your ears that's what i'm taking away from this thread
| |
different people have different opinions is what i'm taking away from this thread lol. So is that guitarist still fired or what's the deal
| |
song rules and I can't be more excited for this release
| |
this song is neo-butt rock
| |
All the people who don't like this song... Its alright, I'm wrong sometimes too.
| |
It's hard to imagine this band being good after 17 years, but "nothing has changed". So I am stoked.
| |
"All the people who don't like this song... Its alright, I'm wrong sometimes too."
12fuckin3
| |
Seriously the people that hate this song, what exactly were you expecting from them? And why is it a bad thing that Dennis can actually sing with some melody now?
| |
Still don't see how a fast paced punk-style song with odd-time drum beats and quick riffs is anything like Foo Fighters. As for their ideology and "selling out", well I'm sure you still believe in everything you believed in when you were 20 right?
| |
Not to mention the album isn't out yet and this is an intro track.
| |
Song is alright. Not amazing. Not terrible.
Biggest pro: it sounds like Refused
Biggest con: holy fuck, it is repetitive
| |
inb4 "Refused aren't fucking dead!!!"
| |
No you aren't
| |
Guitar here is pretty sweet, seems like Dennis aged hard though. Maybe it's just this song though, can only hope for him to sound a little better on the rest of the record
I do agree with the whole foo fighters thing to some degree, chorus sounds a lot like something off of a fighters single.
| |
Well that was pretty awesome
| |
Means new merch, tours, this is going to be great. Even if it doesn't sound exactly the same I'm still excited to see what they bring (back) to the table.
| |
Long live the kings!
| |
https://goropsy6.bandcamp.com/album/v-mac-and-cheese
| |
How in the world can this resemble foofighters?
| |
The riff could very easily be in a FF song. Doesn't mean it's bad though.
| |
These Foo fighters compsrasins make me not want to listen to this
| |
pretty bad
| |
I don't mean to break some hard news to you guys but punk bands are allowed to use the same drum fills more than once per career
| |
shit
| |
Ever feel like you've been cheated?
| |
FFO nu-metal
| |
Im not upset about the rehashed drum fills. I just want to know what song the fills are rehashed from! I can't put my finger on it, it just sounds so familiar.
| |
"it took them seventeen years to come up with this"
I really strongly doubt they've been working on this song since 1997
| |
I'm almost positive they didn't start working on new material until like a year or two ago
| |
And not for nothing everybody here said the same thing about Faith No More's new record based on Motherfucker and it fucking rules soooo
| |
who is this refused?
| |
Well, even with that similarity Its a solid song, I hope that the full album has more to offer though
| |
wow that was bad
| |
lol are there people defending this omg
| |
Wish they had been the opening act for Faith No More when I saw them in Seattle a couple weeks ago instead of whatever the fuck I got
| |
First and foremost, Refused are the most overrated punk/hardcore/post-hardcore band ever.
Secondly, this song sounds like a band that has outgrown the material they're trying to recreate.
Thirdly, this is pure garbage.
| |
Is this the secret track from Sonic Highways?
| |
Lots of people who are wrong up in here. Song is a perfectly acceptable for an Intro to the new album. I'm fucking pumped for this album and to see them with Faith No More
| |
I don't think anyone is calling it a classic, but it's certainly a decent song and probably isn't even representative of the record. And on a more obvious note, they're not the same guys they were 20 years ago
| |
The Foo Fighters comparisons are lol. They literally sound nothing alike. Melodic, some shouting and guitar riffs = must be Foo Fighters and not every other fucking rock band of the last 30 years right? Foo Fighters didn't invent fast riffs with open notes bruhs
| |
No one is calling it a classic, but people are claiming this to be a good song when it's utter shit. I think most of you will look back on this in a few months and see that this just isn't very good.
| |
"The Foo Fighters comparisons are lol. They literally sound nothing alike. Melodic, some shouting and guitar riffs = must be Foo Fighters and not every other fucking rock band of the last 30 years right? Foo Fighters didn't invent fast riffs with open notes bruhs"
Trying to convince yourself?
| |
Well when you compare it to the pile of classic songs they've written, yeah it's nowhere up to that level but I wasn't really expecting it to be. I expected it to sound like Refused and it sounds like Refused. The song is really not a huge leap from what they were doing on Shape and Songs, people are acting like it's the worst song on the planet. Personally I don't mind the fact that Dennis is trying to sing a little bit more, the drums are awesome and the riff sounds like it could have come right out of New Noise or RAFD
"Trying to convince yourself?"
Not exactly I firmly think the song is pretty decent, but the amount of hate towards it is pretty ridiculous
| |
That's one of the problems. The riffs and the rhythm section sound like they've just been borrowed from past albums. It's been 20 years. I know they haven't been working on anything together, but I know they've at least thought about and played music separately during that time; yet this sounds like a band that has no new ideas beyond sounding like Dave Grohl's new side project.
| |
this is one of the least creative things I've ever heard
| |
I'm glad other death is the first in my corner.
| |
Full album needed.
| |
Intothepit: But again that goes back to the point of what exactly were you expecting them to sound like? If Refused came out with a record that sounded nothing like them after 20 years, I would have been pissed. I would love to see some true progression and refinement of their sound from this record, but there's going to be some songs that obviously harken back to the old days and this is probably one of them. Considering that most singles are not representative of the record itself, I wouldn't be surprised if Refused tossed this out as a single to bridge the gap and bring the old fans back in with something familiar. Motherfucker was the first single from Faith No More's new record and came off as off-putting, lazy and probably one of the worst songs they've written by itself, but in the context of the record as a whole it's MUCH better.
TL;DR listen to the full album before you judge it
| |
A fitting release from Burning Shart Records
| |
glad Refused is back but this song sucks.
| |
Is this the secret track from Sonic Highways?
Lol
| |
this sounds like above average radio-ready alt rock/metal
meaning not so good :/
| |
foo fighters could have made this song
not a good thing
| |
It's tiiiimes like theeeese I learn that nothing has changed!!
| |
why is everyone whining
| |
Refused are not fuckin dead.
| |
because the song is repetitive and boring
and because they should have stayed dead
| |
so everyone has lost faith in this band because of one song?
| |
Yes
| |
lol wow
| |
Stop being so level headed and git pist
| |
I wish Foo Fighters rocked this much. I like Foo Fighters, but they're not as heavy as this. Track rules. Don't care what anyone says. Refused is back.
| |
yeah I really don't hear the foo fighters thing
| |
ehhh pretty boring, doesn't sound like foo fighters, just bland af
| |
For people complaining about the song being repetitive: I guess you guys must have DESPISED Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent.
| |
dunno where people are getting dave grohl from this
i'm kinda getting keith buckley vibes tho
| |
Why the fuck does he sound like Dave Grohl?
| |
Song is pretty average too.
| |
Solid song, looking forward to the album.
| |
It sounds like Refused - hopefully there are some heavier and more experimental jams on the album proper
| |
shit
| |
Still better than literally anything The National has done Shadow.
| |
well that was random
at least i didn't go on ultimateguitar and complain about it
| |
The only people on this website that care about your opinion are the same people who masterbate to the text of them telling other users to kill themselves.
| |
i don't tell people to kill themselves, wise guy
| |
Cute little edit there dude.
| |
deleted the original text by accident, my mistake
| |
Funny because I don't think there's a delete for your own posts on a news article.
| |
how much sand did you get up your vagina today exactly?
i didn't delete the post itself
| |
You just edited that post too...
| |
are you drunk?
| |
I dunno man maybe: be a big asshole to a guy on a website for years= that guy gets mad finally.
Also that guy really likes Refused.
| |
clearly
| |
Cool I guess I should go tell UG about this too.
| |
go right ahead
| |
This isn't great
| |
Song is great, cant believe they are back with new material!!!
| |
Ehh, it was alright. I hope this'll be the worst song on the record though.
| |
Sure the chorus was repetitive but overall I enjoyed it. I wasnt expecting something on par with The Shape of Punk To Come though. Just excited they're back. And if this is what Foo Fighters sound like now I need to check them out. Last time I listened to them was 2002.
| |
loving the hatred of this thread.
woulda been better to call it another band altogether. why ruin/chance a legacy? At the Gates, and now this
| |
Sounds like something I'd hear on the soundtrack to Gran Turismo 2 on PS1
| |
So, I just listened to this. I don't think it's the best thing they've ever done, but it's definitely enjoyable.
| |
oh shit
| |
Song is awesome, can't wait for the new record.
Literally doesn't sound anything like Foo Fighters except for the vocals being a little bit Dave Grohl-esque, which isn't even a bad thing because last time I checked Foo Fighters wasn't even a fucking bad band and Dave Grohl wasn't a bad vocalist.
If you think this sounds like Foo Fighters I'm entirely convinced you have never heard a Foo Fighters song in your life. That, or you may just be a fucking idiot
| |
These comments are gold. Also, song is underwhelming.
| |
Song rocks. Yo Hep Cat are you retarded bro? How can you say they sold out? Explain this. So any band that does a reunion tour is a sell out? As for the rest of you all, clean out your fucking ears! This song is fun, not amazing but fun. At least different for them. I will never agree that a band that changed the way hardcore or any other genre sounded and created something original is overrated. Is Led Zeppelin overrated? The Beatles? Fuck you man(Intothepit)
| |
Oh and I saw that tour and it was incredible. Top 3 best shows of my life so fuck yourselves guys
| |
Reunion shows were massively awesome, agreed. Cant wait to see these fuckers open for FNM
| |
they were decent when I saw them in 2012, nothing spectacular though
| |
Unexpected National vs Refused debate! The National are a once in a generation genius band whereas Refused bless them are pretty much Fugazi with sillier lyrics, sillier vocals and a sillier rhetoric, but get 'cute points' for being European rather than American so people give them a lot more leeway.
| |
...good lord. I fucking loathe this site sometimes.
| |
this sounds more like queens of the stone age than foo fighters tbh.
also comparing national to refused? retardnik strikes again
| |
Yeah I shouldn't have responded to the earlier National comment from Spec as the two bands have zero in common. I like Refused, fun band, i find the politics whiff of gimmick a bit but it doesn't reduce my enjoyment of their music. Just hate people bad mouthing The National
| |
"...good lord. I fucking loathe this site sometimes."
123
| |
Love to loathe it.
| |
sounds like alter bridge
| |
Wouldn't go that far.
| |
intro makes me think new Tool
| |
fucking hope not
| |
not a foo fighters tribute record with a bunch of rehashed drum fills from the shape of punk to come.
band sold out and sold out hard. face the facts
it's no underground hip-hop mixtape that's for sure
| |
gonna pop in the new refused record and it will actually be the new tool album
| |
^this
| |
https://genero.us/EpitaphRecords/refused-elektra-nepal-relief
Pay what you want for the song, proceeds go to Save the Children to help with relief for victims of the Nepal earthquake.
| |
Awe
| |
Punk fans (actually fans of all "rock music")
So if a band comes back after 20 years sounding like they always did, you complain about the lack of creativity and innovation, but if they come back sounding different (as in, "woah, they're not the EXACT same people they were 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago? SELLOUTS!"
I'm sure some internet guy will poke holes in my logic, but this to me is the exact reason why punk and heavy music have completely flamed out except for those dark, sad corners of the internet. You people are never happy.
| |
I'd much rather them come back with something radically different. Preferably something that sounds like a somewhat natural progression, but it should definitely seem like it is forwardly thinking. The problem seems to be with these singles so far is that they actually sound DERIVITIVE of Refused's old sound.
| |
it sounds like a parody of refused
| |
this song is like nu-metal as fuck
| |
this song is like nu-metal as fuck
Have you listened to The Shape Of Punk To Come lately? Every guitar note on that album sounds like punks playing nu-metal.
| |
The Shape of Punk to Come probably had some alt metal/ maybe Metalcore tendencies, but nu metal is a bit far.
| |
Listen to it again.
| |
Goddamn double post
| |
Short album.
| |
guest, dude. i'm one of the guys who keeps saying how nu-metal that album already is. but this album is like hard rock (possibly even post-grunge) + nu-metal
| |
If the album had clean vocals it would have went mainstream when it came out.
| |
the only approved genre for this album is phxc with hardcore being close, but this shit doesn't sound like either to me at all...
| |
Who knew the shape of punk to come was nu-metal?
lmao
| |
omfg he pretty much has a rap verse on dawkins christ.
| |
