Tool wins lawsuit

2015-03-16 by Benjamin Kuettel EMERITUS | 63 Comments
American progressive band Tool have revealed that the long-standing legal battle they had been dealing with for years now is finally over. The multi-million dollar lawsuit, along with a bandmember's loved one fighting a serious illness, had both caused serious setbacks and delays in the development of their follow-up to 2006's 10,000 Days.

Now that these issues have been resolved, they are hard at work at making their next studio release. Guitarist Adam Jones explained that they had one song completed, and 10 more at various stages of progress.

Singer Maynard James Keenan will write vocal melodies and lyrics once the instrumental sections have been finished. They hope to have the record finished by the end of this year.

Ah, the time of the year when we all think the new Tool album is at the gates hath come. Please thy selves with false hopes, cause the time of delusion will be short. Soon it will be revealed to you the true number of years the new Tool album will take to be released. Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the years. For it is a human number. This number is six hundred and sixty six.

So what was this lawsuit supposedly about again? Not paying some guy for art he did for an album, and then the firm they hired to defend them sued them for not paying them, or something?

Oh, boy, watch this thread explode with tremendous symbolism, chanting, and druggies getting kidnapped by aliens kek

In all seriousness, though, I might be sure to keep a third eye out.

Pretty much it, although generally how insurance works is that you pay upfront for it, so they definitely must've paid for it. Regardless, their own insurance company turned on them for whatever reason.

I heard it being compared to buying auto insurance, getting in an accident, and then your insurer suing you instead of covering you in the aftermath.

Kind of a silly remark. If any band releases an album that isn't good, their fans will be upset. Tool is no different

I just wonder... what will they have to release to REALLY please people... I mean, it's virtually impossible at this point, the expectations are raised too high, even if some claim that they no longer expect anything from it.

The thing about Half Life is I think Valve is just waiting it out-you know, waiting until everyone accepts it will never happen. I don't know if they wrote themselves into a corner or just completely lost interest in the game world or what. All I know is that you don't stall this long without any confirmation that it is a possibility going forward if you had any intention of doing, not if you are some massive company known primarily for that IP.

Same with Tool. If they really wanted to make a post 10,000 Days album, we would have had it by now.
