so poppy. this project is starting to sound like what midheaven couldve been
| |
i knew this was misha's end game of being basically a heavy pop band but it sucks to see a band that used to be remotely interesting go that route.
| |
his bulb stuff is still worth a listen
band is total shit
| |
heavy pop doesn't necessarily mean bad. unfortunately for periphery tho these new songs have all been pretty lame and spencer sounds even more annoying than before
| |
Wow that was shit
| |
wow this is even more posi than scarlet
| |
I saw all the negative comments and was prepared to fight for the track... but ick. This is the sort of music I stopped listening to in 8th grade.
What really bums me out is that they're all far better musicians than this.
| |
All these songs just sound like wasted potential to me. With the absurd amount of talent contained in this band they could create some truly memorable music. I don't dislike this track, or any of them really. I enjoy them, but not in any special way. It will be an okay album that I will spin for a couple days then discard. If they actually pushed themselves who knows what crazy shit they could pull off. At this point I doubt anyone will find out.
| |
I feel like they're just releasing the poppiest tracks first to draw a larger audience. Misha said the scourge was one of his favorites from juggernaut and thats the most experimental song so far, hopefully the rest of the album is more in that vain. Even though I do like the song, I know they're holding back hard, especially Matt. I don't think I've heard an interesting drum fill yet
| |
I mean they always sucked but these new songs are just taking that to a whole new level. I thought I was listening to a mario party soundtrack when I first started playing it.
| |
The intro is pretty dumb yea
| |
graveless was way better so im still looking forward
| |
I feel like they're just releasing the poppiest tracks first to draw a larger audience [2]
Weird thing is I like this more than most of the debut
| |
this shit is fucking gay
| |
The problem isn't Spencer. Listen to his work with FFTL. They are vocal centric songs. The problem is Misha, he can't write songs that go with vocals.
Songs like Erised, Ragnarok and Scarlet are Periphery doing it right Imo.
| |
New link?
| |
Fucking hell that intro sounded like a different band. Love the little call back to the scourge at
4:10. Song seems to go all over the place, definitely my fave so far but it's easily the poppiest
song they've made.
| |
what scoot said, fuck these clowns this is awful lmao
| |
Song is fine. Getting the impression Omega will be the heavy one.
| |
"The problem isn't Spencer. Listen to his work with FFTL. They are vocal centric songs. The problem is Misha, he can't write songs that go with vocals.
Songs like Erised, Ragnarok and Scarlet are Periphery doing it right Imo."
I think you may be absolutely right on that
| |
Awesome!!
| |
Well, I guess I stopped listening to this band just in time.
| |
"Periphery VII: This Time I'm Feeling a Light-Casual Attire... Nothing Too Serious, But Something Respectable and Also Quite Comfortable"
HAHAHAHAHAHA that made me laugh way harder than it should have.
I'm going to just listen to the album as a whole when they come out, which shouldn't be too long from now since they've already released so many songs now.
| |
"The problem isn't Spencer. Listen to his work with FFTL. They are vocal centric songs. The problem is Misha, he can't write songs that go with vocals.

Are you retarded?
| |
i dug the other songs wth is this one's problem
| |
One or two of the other singles were worse than this one
| |
disagreed this ones shit
| |
Well to be fair most of the released material has been pretty weak
| |
Fuck these clowns [2]
| |
The melodies are nice, but the vox are absolutely awful.
They seriously get worse with every release.
| |
Damn, this was...pretty sub-par. Not a fan of that intro and the very whiny cleans in the verses. Is this band good on their other albums?
| |
Damn, my comment about dicks in mouths got deleted
| |
"Is this band good on their other albums?"
a lot of people will say no but i still really enjoy their debut
| |
Racecar has some really great sounding clean riffs but too much heavy meandering which also applies to most of the rest of the album, buttersnips is bretty gud too
| |
I actually liked this song, the intro was gay but the rest was cool
| |
gonna suck
| |
Yeah, their debut is fun from time to time.
| |
Dawija could u write vocals to Mishas wanky ass riff-salad? Like I said, they can do it but choose not to. Tesseract seems to have non problem integrating their vocals into the junz.
| |
fucking awful
| |
My usual positive comment, I thought this was amazing. Great melodies, cool riffs.
| |
This album is going to suck dick.
| |
Band is not great but there are much more offensive bands than this. Don't think i'll understand this sites problem with them
| |
this is about as beta as it gets lol
| |
Band is on a downward spiral, Spencer has become almost unbearable.
| |
I completely agree with some of the above comments of these guys being a heavy pop band. I enjoyed their debut because it had some pretty good riffs on it plus some interesting song structures like Letter Experiment. After that I feel like these guys lost all of their creativity and motivation to make interesting music. They sound like Slipknot mixed with Meshuggah. Seems like they're trying to profit off of this scene.
| |
Will never listen to this band purely because I knew someone who wouldn't shut up about how ground breaking they were, when he didn't have dicks all up In his mouth.
| |
rad
| |
this song makes me want to do a murder-suicide on myself
| |
Sounds like pierce the veil.
| |
dont insult pierce the veil like that holy shit
| |
You telling me them clean vocals don't sound a little like pierce the veils? I'm not insulting them though, really enjoyed pierce the veils last one
| |
uhh this is how Periphery has always sounded guys
| |
boring as hell
| |
the chorus isnt too bad. these guys are at their best when theyre either full-on pop (this, jetpacks, erised) or full heavy (walk, make total)
......that being said spencer is still p much unbearable, most of the songs released so far are irritating, and this album will probably be a mess
| |
Misha likes to use odd note choices and chords which can throw
a lot of people off tbh. Like u said, Full heavy or full pop seem to be their sweet spot. Trying to write catchy vocals for the
more oddball stuff must be a pain in the ass. But no one one can deny Matt's drumming is next level.
| |
I will probably skip these discs as any stuff they released I'd rather not listen again. How can you like the riffs? There's absolutely nothing memorable going on here
| |
This kinda suckles, just a run-off-the-mill poppy song. At least Spencer doesn't sing so annoyingly high all the time. But yeah, this is pretty weak
| |
And if I want heavy pop, I'll go with Scar Symmetry thank you very much
| |
djent is dead
| |
"this song makes me want to do a murder-suicide on myself"
please do it so we don't have to read another of your reviews
| |
just terrible. these guys shred so hard but damn i just can't listen to this crap.
| |
just when you think the vocals can't get any worse
| |
I can't believe I like the poppy chorus, but I do. I'm really starting to be excited for this release. All the songs have grown on me if I didn't like them from the beginning.
| |
The chorus is catchy as fuck, but overall not great. Spencer's voice doesn't do it for me.
| |
"please do it so we don't have to read another of your reviews"
clever harhar
| |
This is really bad
| |
F... starting to lose hope for this album.
| |
The fuck is this shit?
| |
Periphery have always been poppy. And this song is awesome.
| |
Periphery have always been poppy. And this song is awesome. [2]
| |
I can dig it
| |
this actually is a decent song.
ppl comparing this to sleeping with sirens need their hearing checked
| |
its really not bad at all
just not looking forward to seeing the influx of 1s on album drop day
| |
Much poppier than I expected but not bad, his vocals get a bit much though
| |
Midhaven comparisons??? This album is doomed to be awful.
| |
The beginning sounded like an old arcade game
| |
Hey Tyler
| |
Track was nothing special.
But my God those vocals really bug me.
| |
I'm taking the unpopular opinion here and saying I love Spencer's vocals; they've improved quite a lot since their first album. I think they fit the sound very well and amplify the direction the band wants to take. Obviously the band is polarizing as it is, but I like what I hear and I can't wait for the albums to be released.
| |
Hi Hi
| |
"Hi, I'm Impervious an....and I actually like Spencer's vocals"
*Crowd- "Hi, Impervious"
| |
GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY
TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE,
THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN,
AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
| |
actually fux with the chorus more now
| |
I'm honestly waiting for this album to drop. Apparently it's really good (according to a few reviews I've read).
| |
itll prob be real nice but sputniks bound to tear it apart
| |
I'm thinking of getting the two "Juggernaughts"
I want to give the albums a chance.
| |
both albums are very good. people who miss the heavy dissonant side of periphery will be pleasantly surprised
| |
aw yiss
| |
album got 4.5/5 on metalsucks
excite
| |
That MetalSucks review is frikkin' gold. I was kind of ambivalent because of the singles, but now I'm kind of looking forward to the album.
| |
Metasucks is great and all but it's expected they'd give high marks to a Periphery album...
| |
Yeah, but it's a nice bit of perspective. Periphery III: If you don't know what you're getting into at this point, we really have nothing to say to you.
| |
Metalsucks kinda looks paid to me
| |
What ever Metalsucks says is basically wrong. Or painfully unfunny.
| |
They played this stuff live last night at the concert I went to. Cool stuff.
| |
'What ever Metalsucks says is basically wrong. Or painfully unfunny. '
ah yes objectivity, fuck outta here
| |
